Evosport Pulley Help Please

I was wondering if anyone has experience or knowledge in regards to the pullies included in the Evosport package and the pros and cons of all the additional pullies included.

Is it worth it to replace all the other pullies included or to even get them?

Also is underdriving a good or bad idea with our cars?

The following is what is included in one of Evosports packages:

evolution 1 Power Package
- evosport fully dampened overdrive crankshaft pulley
- evosport black anodized billet aluminum underdrive pulley kit (water pump, alternator & power steering, belt)
- Powerchip/evosport custom-tuned evolution 1 software

Nobody will respond to your thread because this forum is really dead tired of answering these questions which are easily found using the "search" function.

Although I have never used under drive pulleys on a AMG I can tell you my results on other cars. Which were not good.

1. On a 91 Mustang at Keystone drag way during a hot summer day.

3 runs without the pulleys, I ran a 14.3 at 96 MPH.

I installed the under drive pulleys, note it was now dark and a little cooler.

Made 3 more passes, 14.3 at 96 MPH

Now for the fun part. On the way home it started to rain. The AC was on, head lights on, and everytime the wipers would come on, my alternator gauge would go into the red. NOT good

I drove this car, with the pulleys down to Florida, only to have my battery die in the heat.

I removed the pulleys and sold them on Ebay for $60.

Note: These were Ford Motorsport STREET pulleys, NOT racing pulleys. I also had a custom stereo which did not help.

Finally, we tried them on an 04 Vette at the drag strip. Same results, NOTHING.

Edit: Note, none of the pulleys I used were lighter and were from different manufacturers. Let's hope someone that has them chimes in.

IMHO Save your money.
No offense, but how about you let people with our actual parts reply rather then implying that he would have the same results as you did on other cars with other parts.

You realize you will likely scare people away from good parts with posts like these.

Thanks

Not to mention that the original posters questions were very specific and good questions to ask.

komp55,

why do you feel that way? I have yet to reply with our official response as I was hoping for a good discussion. But please reply and then I can reply in detail. This is not to be taken as aggressive, but may drive a good discussion that will help all.

thanks
Brad

Thank you all , I have searched and all it takes is ONE person to advise me to "search". Multiple posts reffering me to search are as useless as you believe my thread is. Please refer me to a thread that answers
my specific questions and I will end the thread.

However I do believe that good discussion can be risen from this thread and can be quite informative for a person in search of a pulley.
There is never a definitive answer. Ultimately it is an individuals decision and responsibility to take initiative to educate oneself prior to making a important decision.
I am just looking for further perspective to aid in my decision. Designs change over time. Vital things are discovered and minds change.

Usually a pulley kit includes : Crank Pulley, WaterPump pulley, Belt and sometimes crank bolt.

How are the additional pullies included in the Evo package, beneficial vs Stock?

I have read somewhere that one or more of the pullies that Evosport supplies is metal as opposed to the oem plastic. Also something about one of the pullies having extra ribs or a wider diameter to lesson the chance of belt slippage or something along those lines(it is a pulley that does not have direct contact with the belt if I remember correctly)
Could someone please elaborate on this.

The pros and cons of underdriving our vehicles?

Is it worth it for the extra pullies?

Thank you everyone, your input is greatly appreciated

Here is a thread showing the gains of a Evosport Power Pulley
on a C63.

https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...-2010-c63.html

The pulley seems to work as advertised, however getting your hands
on one seems to be the hard part. I've been waiting for mine for
2 months.

I just installed an evosport 175mm pulley last night that I bought off a member (worththewait). Great guy by the way .....The thing pulls hard the few times I floored it last night, but I was kind of iffy if the shop my friend took the car to yesterday put in a new crank bolt pulley since they only charged me $10 for the bolt when I saw the invoice last night. Because of that I didn't push it much. I didn't see any wobble at all, but I can give you a more elaborate review in a couple days.

Wrong pulley discussion my friend.

He needs info for the 63 engine UNDER drive pulleys.

From his original post it sounds like he is talking about the evosport 55 pulley package that is offered (overdrive crank pulley) and since he drives an e55 I would assume he is talking about the 55 and not the 63, but I could be wrong

If they didn't use a NEW bolt and torque it correctly you are looking for trouble no matter if you push it or don't! Trust me I know for a bad experience. Get it back to them and have the put on a new strech bolt and watch them torque it if you are in doubt.

Nice score, it's always nice to have fellow members helping out honestly. For the bolt, it is around 10-20 dollars if I am not mistaken. Just express to the shop owner that, if a new bolt was not installed , you want to make sure that they have insurance, because it is common cause of pulley failure.

What are you doing in regards to tuning?

Anyways I appreciate the feedback, but the question was about the additional pullies in the kit.

Nothing to be confused about, this is exactly why my thread can be so helpful if we get some good answers.

I am talking about the E55 AMG. Evosport supplies additional pullies in thier kit for the E55AMG that state that they are underdrive pullies!

I know, I just caught myself so I deleted it.

I forgot that 55's have a separate pulley for the compressor, un like my C32.
