Question about all-season tires in general....indulge me, please!
First of all, apologies to all for another tire thread. Hoping emoving doesn’t have an aneurism.
!
But, having searched the archives (yes, I did search before posting), I had a very generic question about all season tires on the e63 cars.
I saw several folks commenting favorably on the Conti Extreme Contact DWS and the Michelin Pilot AS tires - both all season tires. My question is really the "pros and cons" of an All Season tire, as I am not sure I'm car savvy enough to know.
I'm not a track guy, and drive moderately aggressively, but certainly not to the limits. Thus, I dont really think a "pure sport" tire is a necessity for me, and wonder if an all season is a better idea, especially if a little more wear is a secondary benefit.
I also don’t want to be switching between a summer and winter set-up, and therefore had a thought that an all season tire is not a bad idea.
Can someone educate me on whether my thought process is correct?

For normal everyday driving they are fine. Even with some spirited driving only a professional could really tell. I have had the Contis and they are awsome. Lets face it, these are 4 door sedans and in your case and hell even my kinda driving, we would never notice.

i have Cont DWS on the e55 and was good in the mild winter we had. I have the General Exclaim summer tires on the 4matic. NO problems with it in last year's winter that dumped over 50inches over 4 storms we had.

You are the target consumer for Conti DWS.

Not that the treadware ratings mean too much but a general indicator, the Conti DWS have a pretty nice #
I'm also in the market and driving an E55...based on the multitude of reviews, I believe I'm gonna go with the C-DWS

My good friend Steve has these on his turbo'd imprezza wagon. He's got like 10000 miles on the DWS' and they arent showing ANY signs of wear, and he also drives mildly aggressive.
I was going to buy these myself based on Steve's experience, but I've got a great nitto connection so I got Invo's.

I have the Continental DWS on my E63, and I absolutely love them. They got me thru the blizzard we had in the north east, right after Christmas when we had 11" in parts on PA and NJ.

Ill never buy a tire with a 260 or higher tread rating.I have no grip at all in first or second gear if its under 60 out.
I drove around all last year on drag radials and Im trying the nt05 STREET tires this spring. If you drive like a 90 year old then buy the cheapest set of all seasons.
Here is me trying to keep the car from going sidways with dragradials on it last year.Thats second gear, nevermind driving it in first!!!!

I have Conti DWS on all four corners of the E55. Great all around street tire. Had a bit of winter in Dallas this year and I was pleasantly surprised how well the car motored through it. In our summer heat down here the engine power is soft enough they're fine too. They'll be perfect if you drive like you want to stay out of jail.

I Have the DWS, great tire, I put them on back in September, my 63 came with junk Nankangs. I haven't had a problem with them at all, and its DD in NY.
What some others have said about the tire spin, its only does it a little if you slam on the gas really hard, but for anyone who doesnt feel the need to drive hard every minute they are great tires. The only other tire I would get it hakka's if I decide to do a full winter set of rims and tires.
hope that helps.
good luck w you decision
