Yes, it would be a nice weight savings on your wallet.

It sure would. Aren't the stainless ones expensive enough. Plus they save considerable weight over stock.
For...what...maybe double or triple the price, you aren't going to save enough weight to justify the cost.

So a set of forged rims would be much practical?

I just looked, b/c I figured Akrapovic made one. They do for the C63. It wasn't as much as I thought. $7k. The supersprint complete system is, what, $11k?
Not sure how they compare as far as complete systems.
Your money... And yes I know every pound counts, but it depends on what are you trying to accomplish.
Bill

Edit: and wheels are unsprung weight. More impact than saving 5-10 lb on an exhaust.

If you really want one, custom make. I'm sure it'll be cheaper than $7K.

Or you can get them made by aluminum for a lot cheaper.

No doubt. Wheels and brake rotors would yield a way more noticeable difference.

Edit: don't even think about evosport rotors, you'll pay for em, and never see em

I am seriously thinking about doing something with TiTech or one of the other Asian Ti outfits for a lightweight setup. The problem is, even at $3500 or so, doesn't everyone who wants an exhaust for a 55K already (mostly) have one? What's the remaining market?

On the GTRs, we were able to cut over 40 lbs. out of the exhaust by switching to Ti. You can see the intro thread here: http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=36928

my stock mufflers weighed 25 lbs each
i replaced them with Eurocharged ones which weighed about 8lbs including tips per side.
So total weight savings were 50-16 = 34 at a very low price

The best weight I've seen has been with Forged Alloys USA. TUV spec. rims that weight 19 and 22 lbs, in 20" GTR Nissan form. AWESOME wheels ... lousy customer service, though.

Heck if you're gonna drop the big money. Use thin-wall inconel tubing.

When it comes to Forged Alloys, we have the most complete listing of their wheels. We can potentially make an e55 setup if there is enough interest. The weights on those wheels are very low and rivaled only by BBS FI ($8k + limited fitments)

Titanium is selling right now for $285 per pound so to build a exhaust would be to rich for my blood. Besides if you are worried about that much weight strip your interior and take out the airmatic and switch to coilovers. That would be a big weight saver.
