Been about 9 months now. Rears on stockers and 20s were new than, now both sets are down to wear markers. Normal, or am I too "spirited" of a driver haha. How often you guys replacing tires?

Once a year for the rears. Have had the front on for two years and there is still plenty of tread left! :-)

I replace mine about every 6 months. California weather means Summer tires year round lol

I guess thats what 516+lbtq will do on a nice sunny day lol

i just replaced my rears - 18 months with pirellas; treadwear 400 -- could have gone 2 yrs but too much freeway with too much negative camber. went to San Diego from Vegas numerous times. fronts still look decent after 18 months may last another year.

My Falken RT615's only lasted me 2 months (No burnout, but alot of hard driving)

I noticed that when I had the suspension on sport II the rear tires would wear out quicker. It would wear unevenly, now I leave it in sportsI and alls well, oh I don't turn the ESP off any more to do burn outs.

Same with NC weather... We had more snow this winter than we had since I have been down here since 2001, but the tires I have actually handle very well considering the HP and Torque that these vehicles put down... Not to mention, I know how to drive in the snow being from a lake effect snow region of PA...

Obviously, this will be in direct proportion to how hard one drives... And if the vehicle is lowered and what suspension mode the vehicle is in most of the time...

Although I still love "blowing the doors off" an unsuspecting Trans Am (did that just the other day), for the most part, I drive in sport mode for the transmission and comfort mode on the suspension and leave ESP on... I do have my days where Sport II, Manual, and pano roof open is the only way to go, but for the most part I drive pretty "tame." I definitely drove it harder the first year or so that I had it than I do now...

I do think that I need to get my alignment checked, as the way my last driver's side rear tire separated at the shoulder was kind of scary...

Is there any truth that a rear-wheel drive vehicle doesn't need a rear wheel alignment?

No, absolutely not. 4-wheel alignment is the only way to go.

I thought so! I took my wife's vehicle (09 C300) to a shop to get tires and they asked if I wanted an alignment. I asked how much they charged for a 4-wheel alignment for a Benz and they tried telling me it only needed a front-end alignment since it had a "solid rear axle" (or whatever they tried telling me). I said "No thank you, I will take it to a place that can do it properly" and left...

I replaced 8 tires in a little over a year, mostly due to the ****ty streets in tampa.

OEM Dunlops lasted about 12,000

I second that. I've been getting about 6 months or 5-6k miles before the inner tread is worn down to the cords. Its about the only point of contention that I have with my E55. The negative camber is horrible in such a heavy sedan!! I've had repeated alignments without any noticable decline in tire wear. I usually drive the car in the comfort suspension setting and hardly ever lay down rubber. Anyone figure out how to adjust or align the rear wheels?

have you flipped the tires? at least you can get a few more miles before theyre trashed.

I burned through a set of PS2's on the rear in 6K miles. Just had them replaced for this season with new PS2's. They were completely worn out, almost no tread left.

The front tires, also PS2's, were replaced at the same time in August 2009 and are almost new aside from a bit of negative camber wear on the inner tread. They still track and handle like new and are absolutely good for this season.

I thought about a camber kit but its too expensive --I know my tires would have lasted longer if i was not so low and all the freeway miles. My last tires 18's lasted pretty long and i drive my car hard -- i think i will stick with high treadwear tires '400' and be :-) With such a heavy car and torque/HP monster... i cant complain too much -- but with larger wheels w/ softer tires and lowered cars- camber kit would be a finacial must!!!

True there are many factors... driving conditons, mods, heavy foot etc... But being an amg I figure most people that have these cars drive them how their meant to be driven.... like its stolen. lol

My tires have been on since 2005 aswell. parked it for two years in 2007 and put about 30 miles on them in that time. but they have about 18k miles on them, on the wear bars now.
