Have you guys seen the new numbers for the GTR
I could not believe my freakin eyes when I saw it. I was in Publix with my daughter and decided to make a sweep through the magazine isle.
I forgot what mag it was but it had the Z06, GT500 and the GTR on the cover. Well, I lunged at it in excitement almost dropping my daughter which she responded, " daddy, what is wrong with you?"
I quickly turned to the specs page, and it lists that car sprinting from 0-60 in 2.9 sec and running the 1/4 in 11.2sec at 126mph. Those 2012's GTR's are insane, imagine what a cobb tune will do to that thing, maybe 9'sI seriously doubt there is anything on the street that is going to touch a tuned 2012 GTR, how are they making that car so quick?

Gotta call you on this bud, the 997 Turbo s has posted in the high 2s to 60 in numerous tests and runs better at higher speeds than the Nissan. GTR is a very good car and a fair whack cheaper but the P would be my choice.

Not dissimilar to the change in numbers that that 997.1TT put up against the 997.2TT... The Point 2 is just that much stronger with the PDK for shift speed and small bump in boost and HP.
EDIT: Nstar is right, the Stock 997.2 TT S will beat the 2012 GTR--- 0-60, 1/4 traps, and other important measurements... stock vs. stock

Whether 997.2 TT S OR 2010 GT-R...you can't go wrong with either!
I thought I could hold my own for being a somewhat quick sedan for a couple more years, but this is gettin ridiculous!

aside from the veyron, the 997.2 was the fastest car ever to hit 0-60 (2.9something....little faster than GT-R) that motor trend ever tested. the car is an absolute animal! Vic is right the 911 would beat the GT-R stock for stock.
that being said check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OutkvEm90Y
0-60 in 2.6! and check out the speedo at 3:35 The guys at AMS are simply amazing with turbo cars.

Alot of the 10 sec 55k Guys are hitting high 2's, low 3's also.
0-60 is a useless measure of a car's performance anyway.

Since the GTR is a Japenese car for well over 60K, I will pass and take a nicely used and tuned SL65 AMG that runs 11.3s and its still a convertible , and doesn't look boy ricer. Japenese cars do not do it for me the 997.2 on the other hand does! It is an amazing car, from the motor to the styling it is truely timeless!

All,
Couldn't one just buy a used CL65, mod it for $3K and generate similar numbers, perhaps not at launch but 0-100 and in the quarter? You can get a 2005/2006 CL65 for $45K, mod it and have 850 ft.lb and 750HP. The cars weights are similar I believe.
Isn't a 6.0 V12 TT > 3.8L (?) V6 TT?
Or am I missing something? (Totally possible by the way, but this is my next car/next plan. New these cars were $200K)
Link to just one example: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...e&rdpage=thumb

Look CL65 is a very nice car and has many advantages over a GTR but to answer your question, yes, you're missing a lot.

I agree about the 0-60 but recently I have been getting a lot of dig runs with my GT-R and its not even close.

I owned a CL65 W215 and had the ECU modded for more boost. While there are many faster CL's than I have there is zero comparison to my GTR and even my 997TT from a dig and runs up above in the 160's. The CL is a GT cruiser pig with numb steering and mush brakes (my opinion) and I dont see a zero to 60 even close to under 3 with the CL. Yes there are CL's running low 130's in quarters but there are tons of older (not the new model) GTR's doing the same thing on a simple midpipe and tune. Then there are the heavier modded ones that just would crush the CL. I think CL weighed about 4700 lbs and my GTR is closer to 3900 lbs. I wont even speak to handling, steering, braking- as those items dont compare.
Two different cars with different transmissions, gearing, aerodynamics, weight, etc. They are also clearly two different ways to get from Point A to Point B via luxury, handling, speed, acceleration...

Excuse my ignorance, but what year did the 997 .2 come out, and when you refer to PDK, I am assuming your are refering to the dual clutch setup?

The 997.2 and PDK came out in 2010. The PDK is an option on this model and yes its a true double clutch unlike my MCT on the W212. This is the normal Turbo model with 500 hp... the Turbo S came out as a 2011 model and gets an HP bump to 530. All Turbo S's come with PDK standard and other goodies (ceramics, tq vectoring, and others) but the sticker is up there in the 170's.

I'm seriously considering a GTR as my next vehicle...a few friends have them&they are absolutely RIDICULOUS w just the most basic of mods.A lil more than $1000 has you solidly into the 10's and they just get faster/quicker from there. Drop less than $10k into in&ur running hi 9's @ 140+mph and its still a daily driver if you choose it to be
The transmission is simply amazing w virtually zero power interruption during shifts;this alone is key when a GTR runs another car w similar HP,the other cars(even the awesome PDK)will lose precious time during shifts where as the GTR just keeps pulling.
I can even deal with the appearance(which is purely personal opinion) of the GTR since it offers so much performance

Well you guys know about the worst disaster in Japan now. I wonder if the Nissan factory is affected? I don't think making of the GTR is a priority on their list. Sorry its off topic. But I feel so bad for Japan.

Heres another interesting number for the GT-R, sales are down nearly 70%...they can't give the things away. A local dealership has a brand new 2009 sitting on the showroom floor discounted to hell and they cant sell it, the same dealer is sitting on 2 2010s as well. Nissan had to bump the performance if they ever wanted to sell another one. It seems they are fragile little things too, seems like every track event i do there is a GT-R going home on a flatbed. Fast cars with great performance but I never own one.
