2003 CL55
Project ported heads coming soon!

After a year of R&D , in my spare time, I hope to have my ported heads on soon. Good flow gains were attained and most of at LOW lift and high lift vale events! Spring pressure was also increased 10% to help handle higher RPM. My stock cam lift is only .420 lift range but still going to see 330 CFM in that range and that is more than most of the modern American CNC muscle heads can attain.. Very cool and can`t wait..

My header project was a big one, so was the idler pulley set R&D and of course the huge fuel injector /fuel pump project to handle power increases. Texas mile is this weekend but could not get the heads completed by then.. Great news though, they are having 3 events this year! Next on is in may.. Would like to see 190 mph next time..

Was watching a top fuel show last night and they were mentioning how they used gorilla size intake valves to get as much air in as possible on the in stroke. Wish I went bigger intake valves on my head job. Just port and polish/angle valve job over here and wasnt too big a difference. ** Edit, I was in the middle of "finding a dyno guy hell" at that point and couldn't get it over to the dyno so who knows what gains I had.

Thanks! Our valve size can handle a lot more power but our heads do not like some of the standard vavle cuts and port procedures used on US made heads.. Every step was flow tested and I was suprised to see how tricky it was to gain flow.. The key was to gain flow from low lift to high lift and not just make a high lift bragging number. We need average power across the band to have FUN!

I saw the VRP heads on a fully moded E55 (top mounts and all) and it was a disgrace what it did to the torque and low end power.. I dynoed the same day and made more TQ than that car. That was before my headers and latest tune.. Those heads tipped me off that we need to move carefully to un-lock the power and not go backwards. The flow gains are there and across the lift band, next for install and test. If I can get enough power, will go for a ten second ET in the summer heat.. Be nice to run 10`s all year in Texas on a full weight CL55 in street trim.

Hey so what fuel pump did you end up using? I haven't upgraded my fuel pump yet and would love to since I already have my 550 Injectors and converted my fuel rail to a full return system!

We do share the same fuel system

We do share the same fuel system
I used the Bosch 044 pump and also drilled out my fuel filter to 6mm (match the line ID size).. Been a great set up and easy install..
