It is a hard mark to hit but so is 180..

I saw two S/C CTS V caddies running and one made 550 RWHP and the other made 620 RWHP. The first one ran 167 mph with pulley, tune, airbox H/E. The other ran 174 mph all day long at 620 rwhp pulley, open exhaust, headers, ported heads and cams and bunch of bolt ons.. Saw 3 Corvette ZR1`s and all ran in the 174 to 175 mph range.. Nissan GTR with tune and a few bolts on would run 174 mph and saw a stock one run 161 mph..

This shows you how good our AMG`s are, can be and also how hard it is to hit 180 mph in the standing mile.. It Aint easy, as we say in Texas..
Props on the 180!!!

No need for the flamesuit, and no unfortunately they don't do et's Just mph... Most people don't really understand the event (I was one of them) and just assume you can run your regular tune/mods and do good. Thats definitely not the case.

The interesting thing about the mile is no one really launches hard like the 1/4. The mile veterans all tell me that it doesn't matter as the end result is the same. I kinda questioned that, but as we were testing things out, it was indeed the case.

This event is unreal. It doesn't really have the same issues with the quarter that we are all used to. (track running downhill with poor timing and a 80mph rear wind lol) Case in point some of the folks there can tell you exactly what a vette (modded or stock) will run within a mph or two no matter how he launches, weight of driver, etc. Everyone should try this in their lifetime!

Some interesting things that I learned:

At 180mph you have approx 9 seconds to slow down before the end of the track! (.5 mile) Make sure your car can do so as you have to turn lol.

Stock GTR will run 160mph, a tuned and bolt on one will run 174 ish.

Even vette guys will give you a lot of respect when your car hits 170+.

That CLS had a nice run.

I am thinking about running my car in the Texas mile this year.
What all is required to inter? Is it just a helmet and did you have to do anything to your car?

Car has to be teched, but ya, pretty easy to do. For under 190mph you need a approved helmet, jeans/pants, race gloves, and race jacket. Shoot for the october event, and temps will be much better. Also remember that the event fills up extremely fast.

It has to pass tech inspection. Make sure the car is safe. Jake learned that missing two lug bolts will prevent a tech pass.

The car needed rotors before we ran, and thats not something I was going to chance lol.
