Used DB9 or Used Granturismo? Last time I'm Doin This
Hi guys. This is the last thread I will do like this but I need your guys input. My dad is looking for a car that is very nice. What would you guys take a DB9 or a Granturismo? I really like the sound of the V12 with 450hp as opposed to 400 in the Granturismo. The only thing is a used DB9 would be 2005-2006 and the Granturismo would be a newer used model at 2007-2009. Hmmm

I would just get Carrera Turbo, my buddy had db9 for 7 months and said no more, not very practical car, instead of DB9, he bought two door Jaguar with R badge on the back, sorry no idea about model, i know nothing about British cars. Always thought, Maserati is Ferrari for poor people.

My brother's roommate currently dailies an AMV8, and a previous classmate has a DB9 - both dated at this point from the model you're looking at [I assume] so I'm not sure how applicable my anecdotal evidence is...but:
Both have nagging unsolved issues. The AMV8 is a ford parts train car [and actually has a volvo keyfob under the leather aston martin cover] Would suggest 2007+.
I'm sure there are owners here that can give more credible commentary, though. The guy with the sick vette in his sig has some sort of Maserati.

I love the DB9 for what it is. It just screams automotive soul. When and if you ever see one on the road, you can't help but gasp in envy. My dad had a 2005 Maserati Gransport and it was a great car, just not that reliable as someone said. Not sure how the new Maserati's are though. I don't believe Maserati's are poorman's Ferrari's. I think they are actually more classy than Ferrari. Ferrari's scream look at me where as Maserati's not so much, unless its a granturismo. I want that V12 sound so I can pull out fuse 22 and have the exhaust flaps stay open throughout the entire rev range.

I am a huge AM fan. I prefer the v12 vantage. I have seen a quadroport here in the desert that has one of the sickest exhaust notes I have ever heard. Will this be a daily driver? If so I would do the Maserati.

It will not be a daily driver. Maserati's sound intense but the V12 wail of an Aston is just to die for. lol My dad's only looking to spend 75-80 grand on this car.

A few things surpised me about the DB9... very firm ride.... and the nav is rubbish. Allot of bark but not that quick. Also for a 2+2 its rubbish in terms of internal space reckon Porsche has more passenger space (but no boot of course). On the plus one of the best looking cars out there, but getting a bit dated now.
The Mas has a much more forgiving ride, things work (revelation for Mas), and altogether a very nice car... also more space inside. Those side vents make the car... also pretty but not as nice as AM. Fresher looking car.
As an occasional car both work as a DD the Mas.
BTW the R Jaguars are awesome cars... supercharged V8's after all.

I'd buy a 2009+ Jag XKR for the 510hp SC V8 over a DB9 for the same price. 2006 DB9 Vs 2008 Maser is no contest. Maser all the way. Dead sexy looks, and tubi exhast sounds like heaven.

Yea I told him about the SL65 but he didn't sound too pumped up for that car. He wants something very classy.
Same here. It's my dream car.
The one we are looking at is a DB9 Volante which has softer suspension i think. I know there are some parts from the Volvo parts bin which is why the nav sucks. lol but o well its a DB9.
My mom might be getting the the new XJ so Jaguar could be out of the question. My dad will never spend money on exhaust, only me when he doesn't know lol.

convertible or coupe. Convert has softer suspension and is a cruiser whereas the coupe is more performance oriented. What do you guys think?
