Anyone feel their car faster when rolling from 2nd instead of kicking down to 2nd?

Let me explain myself.

I go WOT at 40mph in DRIVE and the car kicks down to 2nd gear and it feels....meh ( definitely not slow...but not crazy either ).

Then I go WOT at 40mph with the gear selector in 2nd at it feels CRAZY. I Honestly feel it is faster.

Has anyone experienced this before? Maybe the car is retarding a lot of timing on the downshift?

You're right. It shouldn't matter if it's in C or S. The only thing C does is start out in 2nd and pick lower rpms to shift for better fuel consumption.

But you can train C mode to shift differently (adaptive tranny) and to act exactly like S mode except that S will always start out in 1st.

Check the IC panel to see what gear it actually kicked down to....

i feel this too -- except i notice it most when i am on the freeway and manually downshift to 3rd --- seems to pull harder than just slamming the gas and letting the computer do it.

On a lighter note, glad to see GT-ER is having a good time with his new EC pulley!

Thanks...hopefully tomorrow I should dyno the car.

Anyways...I know it goes down to 2nd because it shifts again at around 80 or so. Regardless...doesn't matter,I'm just crazy to see what she can do.

tested before what you are saying. and if two stock 55s are racing. the one who set 2nd gear will pass by more than a can length than the one on D. as time will be lost for shifting from 4th\5th to 2nd.
