2006 E55 Wagon value today?
#26
I'm sitting on my 2007 E63 wagon and trying to keep the miles down in hopes that someday the values rebound a little. Granted I'll probably need to hold onto it for a very, very long time, but in the meantime it's fun to take out once in a while and turn a few heads.
On the other hand I just picked up a 2006 E500 4matic wagon for the wife with 46K miles for $27K... it makes sense that it's AMG sibling would command a $10K premium.

I think the 06 E500 4Matic might be almost as rare as a E63 wagon.
We bought a 2002 E320 wagon 4Matic to slow down the miles that we were putting on the R500. For most day to day, I actually enjoy driving the smaller wagon much more. For long distance cruising, however, the R500 is tough to be for overall comfort.

Am I reading this right? Looks like current market has offered these cars up at ~$44K. You're waiting for this to go "back" to $50K? After aging? Pretty sure this isn't a '70 Lafite Rothschild

If I really thought I could get $44k, I would sell too. I think 30's is more realistic and at that price no one wants to part with them.

It's hard to imagine a 4 or 5 door AMG holding, let alone increasing, in value. Collector cars are almost exclusively exotics, cabriolets, coupes, etc. - not production based sedans/touring sedans. IMHO the wagons are following the same downward curve as the sedans, though a bit more slowly (less speedily?).

Yeah "rebound" wasn't right word, but lose their value "less speedily" is more like it. Its a fun & rare car to own. Maybe its my way of justifying owning one, but they'll hopefully hold their value over the long run better than the sedans. Maybe helped if MBZ doesn't bring the W212 AMG wagon to the states.

I love the performance advancements in our cars, but I know it is also a curse for resale. An upper 500's hp twin turbo W212 wagon would be the death of values on the W211's.
It has been a big factor for me with I get the itch for something new. What would I replace and E55 wagon with exactly? A CTS-V wagon is the closest replacement I have come up with but I don't like the interior.

I think our W211 cars will be much like the 993 911 P cars which are more desirable than 996 911's

I concur with the above statemant having just sold my 993 C4S. It is supply and demand - the last air cooled porsche will always be the most desirable one, and a widebody even more so. I think wagons will stand the test of time, because of such small quantities and "cult" status.
And everyone in the know says no W212 wagon stateside.

OK everyone, there is a really nice looking E63 Estate with some very unusual options (carbon interior trim and the DTM steering wheel) up for sale on ebay. A few bids are in and a few days left, maybe we can see firsthand what the market is dictating for one of these.
The seller has horrible feedback, so hopefully that doesn't compromise the sale price.

hopefully, the people you're talking to simply think they are in the know, but actually are not. i have heard the opposite. my dealer called the rep at MBUSA and learned the car can be ordered for october delivery as a 2012MY. unconvinced, i emailed MBUSA and they confirmed the car is coming. such is the debate...i spoke with a sales guy at the chicago auto show about this topic and he insisted there would be no AMG wagon coming. he was so excited about himself (and his knowledge of the subject) that he offered to buy me a steak at Ruth's Chris if the wagon did come, as i suggested it would after my emails between MBUSA.
the point is: everyone thinks they know what's up based on history, current gas prices and arrogance. but nothing has been crafted into a press release. this means that if you ask a dealer if the car is coming, they will tell you what they believe germany will do. thankfully, my sales guy didn't know the answer and refused to speculate...so he asked the people that knew the answer. unfortuately, the douche that's going to be buying steak in october is the more likely the typical MB salesman. just for giggles, i asked that guy what AMG meant. it looked like his head was going to explode.

I've got a 2006 e55 wagon with 22k miles on it. Midnight blue with grey interior, fully loaded. Perfect condition except from some curb rub. Any idea what it's worth? Someone is offering me $32k, but that seems light. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Love the car--seems like it's worth more. Maybe just to me :-)

The wagon is back in the US now, of course. The 2012 E63 wagon with the new 5.5TT motor. So I suppose demand and prices on earlier wagons will shift a bit. Just like they're going to shift on the 2010-2011 W212 E63s with the 6.2 motor.
Older AMG wagons will always fetch a bit more than sedans, though.

Easily closer to 40 grand with those low miles...that's a great color combo btw. Just IMO. A nice 05' with 65K on it is being listed for 36K near me....and not in particularly nice colors either (grey/black)
Forget the market ....there is an AMG lover who appreciates its rarity and will pay for it; you might have to wait a bit for him to find you though.

Just me,
but I don't see that an average (at best) car is over $30k, wagon or no. It's obviously not an enthusiast's car, and there's always a surprise. And surprises on these cars aren't cheap. Also keep in mind that as these cars approach 70k and near 7 years old, fiinancing options really get limited. Warranties too.
Still miss my 06 55 wagon.

If all the above checks out, then 32K is light. A 22K mile sedan would about fetch that number. For the wagon, I'd say $35K-$36K, assuming there is no warranty on the car - more if it's under warranty.
