Tested out 3D carbonfoil (vinyl)
Hey guys,
so i got tired of my greenish trim and went looking for alternatives.
I found a carbontrim set for 2 much money and had second thoughts..
Then i found a 3d carbonfoil with texture for 60 usd (2000mmx300mm)
I removed the trimparts and 4 hours later here is the result.
im really pleased with the result and if ive put 6 hours instead of 4 i would have had perfect results.

I agree.....the results look good!
Did you take any "in-process" photos? I'm curious how hard it is to remove some of those trim pieces to do the wrap on them. Specifically the thin trim band across the dash and the door panel parts....

Thanks for the response guys!
Well i didnt take any in process photos but i can remove some of them to show how its done. Will post it later on.
I was amazed at how simple it was and the material was just great.
It has glue on the backside (adhesive that doesnt leave marks when removed) and does strech abit for better fit around corners and such. You can also use a hairdryer to get abit more strech. (I didnt).
This is the foile I used.
It feels like a totally diffrent car its just more sport and less oldman.
(No offense to all u wood lovers out there)

since that place in germany I can imagine the shipping might be expensive so I google "3D carbon foil" and found this place here in the U.S... if you go to the bottom right of the page they even have videos of the products and quick installation sample.

Looks good. I have been contemplating doing my car, but the center armrest will not be easy ! Still deciding between carbon fiber or a black marble.
We use this stuff .. http://www.idsfinishes.com/auto.html the same as above - 3M Di-Noc.
On the carbon fiber if you go over it with a clear coat when done it really brings it to life.

It depends on how you do it. If u remove the trim then you can just cut crosses where the holes are and bend back the corners.
The seat buttons are the hard ones if u dont remove the trim .You can cut out the initial holes where the buttons should be (smaller then the actual buttons but big enough to be able to thread the foil on). and then cut away the excessive foil with a razor or similar. Be careful with the razor!
Oh and make sure to put the film on so the pattern matches on the different trims. Especially the dvdchanger/ashtray part. Looks wierd otherwise.

Thank you for the information! Very useful. I have rolls of this stuff ready to go but was not too sure how to go about it correctly.
One last question... the chrome strip on the bow that's on the dashboard.. how did you finish the edge off?
