the new 63TT is already been tuned. so for now it is the first for current runing 63s TT. as for the M5TT. i don't think it will take a lot of time to crack it. give it a month or so. and M5 engine is already been modded on the X6M/X5M and reached 700hp on the crank with headers, 3" catless down pipes and a tune + drop in K&N.
This not dissimilar to the the 997.2 TT and the 997.2 TT-S- the S is tuned to 530hp versus the 500 hp of the standard TT. So what I was saying was if I get the non performance (not upgraded tune) I would hope someone would crack the tune to get me to the upgraded levels if not more.
And I agree, it wont take long for either car.

I have had 4 AMG's and 4 M's which marque gets to be number 5? I will be getting either the F10 M5 or this car...... decisions decisions.
Which one is faster? Id have to guess the times will be very close? Whats the better handler? I think AMG with the W212 has narrowed the gap for sure. Whats the better looker, inside and out? Which one will be tunable first?

All cars are tuned (even Kia's) but the new TT63 is under tuned in stock format (thus the upgrade package which changes the boost). Hence my comment about tuning to the upgrade levels.

stock = 540 hp tuned NOT BY AMG to 600hp (OE Tuning, Speed driven, Carlsson).
P30 = 571hp tuned by AMG and can be tuned by the aboove companies to 600hp.

So what's the deal here.... it's still not on Daimler's Global Media site (it would have been announced there by now.) Is it for real in the US? The story originally came from a Euro website. I called a dealer and they said they have no knowledge of it coming in the E63 yet

I'm sorry but the F10 M5 SUCKS!! It doesn't look sporty or sinister, the W212 is WAY WAY better. Not even in the same league and with this new engine the M5 does not stand a chance. BMW have really gone down in the design department, Mercedes too but not as much. Porsche on the other hand is really stepping up their game, the new Turbo S is a 10 sec car STOCK. Plus one of the things that made the old M5 appealling was the screaming V10, and it looked not bad, so what's left now. Twin Turbo V8 is nice but what makes BMW think people are going to choose it more than the E63??!!

So the rumors put the M5 at Frankfurt this year, then into production late in the year. AMG has to counter. Bet at dealers this fall or Spring of 12.

Just curious but both the M5 and AMG will be using motors based on their pedestrian versions. That would suggest that the F10 550i could be tuned to closer to the M5 and that the E550 (when it gets the M278) could get closer to the E63. Not the same car of course but it sounds like performance with non M and non AMG can get closer now, no? I know the displacement and the bore and stroke is different in the new M157 versus the M278, but even the M278 will be easily tuned with the TTs.
Everybody going with FI now is going to make the manufacturers have to look at other ways to really differentiate their performance cars (like a better chassis and tranny, body design, etc..)

It states that the sale date is this fall but it's not clear if that's the US or not.

Yeah, if they are reading this they are going to see that all the MB World guys can't wait until they can afford the TT years down the road used, etc. while they are still modding the crap out of their 5 years + old 55Ks...LOL! Not knocking anyone, myself included.
