![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I will be purchasing either an E55 or S55 (2003-2005) within the next week I hope. I plan to do some basic mods to it, pulley, exhaust, etc. But I would like to know where I can buy software to tune it myself? I'm sure there were a lot of gasp's when I said "tune it myself", and I understand. But I actually dyno tune cars for a living. GM, Ford, Dodge, Imports, etc., with countless different types of software. I've been tuning since 1989, so I'm not scared of it.
While I'm asking questions, any suggestion as to which car I should buy? E55 or S55? And why?? (aside from the S55 being heavier and maybe not as "sporty" looking)
Thanks in advance!!

I'm in the same boat! I'm picking up a E55 in a couple of weeks and would like to tune it myself. I have no interest in letting someone else touch my car. I'd love to know if there is any software out there for tuning.

Wecome to the party. ZERO do it yourself programming software on the market like hptuner for CTSVs.
If you wanna study software programming, you could do it on Winols but first would have to put your ECU on a bench, remove the chip and read it. Then sift through the hundreds of maps that are all in German.
Its the hell we just have to live with being AMG owners.
Eurocharged, Renntech, Kleemann, and OEtuning are the hot tuners right now. Gonna have to go to them or nothing.

Do you know if anyone has tried a complete piggy back setup. Obviously the down sides are you can't change ecu specific stuff, but you should be able to do good job getting the advance and AFR working right for a given setup.

I did a lot of hp tuners with my truck but nothing in term of that for the amg...I went with Eurocharged and the cable that they ship. They remote tune the car and that's it.

www.aempower.com They make a lot of plug and play import electronics, but they also make some universal stuff as well. I've use they're stuff before and it works very well. I'd still prefer being able to reprogram the factory computer myself, but I'll settle for less if I have to.

I'm not to worried about the pistons as long as you can monitor AFR with a wide band and knock, anyone with tuning experience can keep an engine alive. I'm trying to avoid using a standalone, but I will if I have to. If anyone else has ran other setups, I'd love to here from them.

Slow help from Eurocharged on the tune I'm helping with, 3rd tune and still having some issues. Renntech has always been bang on for me before, never tried Kleeman or OE Tuning. Would also be interested in the software to tune if available but I have been hunting with no luck.
