Anyone planning to replace their upright star with a flat badge?

I will be replacing the star with a flat emblem. I was also thinking of changing the grill to the elegance grill like the one of the CL. But the one I saw on an E class didn't look as nice as the CL. I think it was because the MB logo didn't seem big enough to me. So I haven't decided on the grill yet. I did a cut and paste from the picture a guy posted on the E class form and took the MB grill emblem and placed it on the E55. Looks pretty good, so I haven't decided.

I bought it locally from Carshine. It is an SLK badge and takes about five minutes to install.

I ordered this a few weeks ago for my '99 E55. I just never liked the pop-up emblem - too obnoxious.

Hey Stephens....how come when I look at the picture of your car it looks like your grill has some solid pieces on it....right in the center on both sides of the chrome strip in the middle. It is very interesting because last time I went to the dealership in Hartford they has a 2003 S55 in the showroom and it also had these black, plastic pieces in the center of the grill...I thought this was odd...but maybe the dealership would remove them.....now I see them on your car. What gives?? Its like the center of your grill is one solid piece of plastic....no grooves. Can someone explain this to me....I hope my E55 doesn't have this. It really looks odd in person...especially on that S55 I saw!!

The strips you are talking about are for the Distronic Cruise Control. I too am not a fan of the dual strip look. The SL's and CL's have a plastic filled mercedes emblem in the grill, which while still not beautiful is somewhat less noticeable.

Thanks for clarifing that!! I always wondered where the distronic was. You think they could have com e up with something better.....no offense to your car. Hey you still have an E55 and here I am waiting!!!

No offense taken. On a black car it is actually that noticeable in the flesh, unlike the photo.
