Sorry I personally hadn't a chance to look at the seat bottom, yet...

I have yet to do the bottom either. I've had the back done for about 2 weeks and I am lovin it. South Florida is hot but not a problem anymore. Noise is only barely noticeable on high setting, but I turn down after 10 min or so. Actually gives propose to the feature and utility to the lower settings (before I used high or nothing)

Haha, San Diegans unite!

I've been thinking of doing this mod to my CLS. One question...did you guys turn the replacement fans the other way to blow air out of the front of the seat, or did you keep it like the old fans, to create a vacuum at the front of the seat?

The fans blow towards the back of the driver. I put the new fans in the same way.

That's interesting...everyone else is saying that the fans pull air from the front, not towards the front. But you opened the seat and found that the fan did blow towards the front?

bobgodd, which fans from Frys did you end up getting? I might have to take a trip down to Aero Drive tomorrow to pick some up.

I tried the most powerful fan (highest CFM) from fry's and it was descent but when i Put in the Digikey ones timeToy provided the link to, the difference was night and day. You really feel those suckers pushing air against your back. I find myself using setting 3 far less. If I am to be honest I believe with the Digikey fans, setting 1 blows as much as setting 3 of the stockers used to, which is basically only useful for preventing heating up the seat from sitting on it.

If I got an red LED fan, do you think enough light would come out of the back of the seat to make it glow slightly?

I have a E350 without the cooling fan & switch and I am thinking of adding this to my E350

Does anyone has pictures of how to add it ? Is it 2 cooling fans at bottom and 2 at the back for each seat ?

I might have to get a new Hazard switch for my car which is about $174 from partswebsite.com

any ideas are welcome.

Thank you

LOL!! Well, at least we know where to source cheap replacements.

The funny thing is that just yesterday I was using these in my E63, and was wondering if they were really doing anything at all. Now I know it is not just me.

Yesterday, I attempted to upgrade the fans in the seat bottom without success. I can't see any reasonable way to access the fans as the bottom cover is riveted.

I took the driver's seat out of the car and now I have an airbag and seatbelt warning. Is there any way to clear this?

Try to disconnect the battery for a few minutes to see if it goes away.

Did you take any photos of the seat bottom and rivets? I'd be curious to see what that looks like. Rivets can certainly be drilled-out to remove a bottom plate, though I can appreciate if that's more trouble than you feel like dealing with....

Sorry, no pics. I thought about it while it was out, but I needed to charge my camera. You can get a good look at the undercarriage of the seat by just undoing the 4 bolts and tilting the seat back. You won't have to unplug any harnesses.

I couldn't make sense out of what I saw under there.

stuff
Was going to take my car to dealer to have them checked out...guess not necessary. I will be doing this mod before summer. My back sweats more than my *** so I think I will be good with just the back fans. Nice work guys!

I had mine on high for a couple minutes the other week when it was around 70-80 in Chicago and it got too cold so I turned it to the middle setting. I think since it wasn't that hot out and the A/C was on like 69 the cool air was blowing through the seat and it worked well for me. If it was like 90 or something it probably wouldn't be as good. So far I think its not too bad though.

Yeah.....and then somebody ELSE should criticize the design as being overpriced and having the "Mercedes Tax" applied, build their own knock-off version for half the price and start selling as many as possible under a newly-created company that uses an obsure 3 letter acronym.

Interesting.

Did anyone ever investigate the fans that are in the bottom cushion? Those are the ones I would really like to upgrade.

Time to order up some fans!
