Godzilla is coming...
First of all, dealership salespersons are a pretty devious crew even with each other...
Walked in my local Nissan dealership Monday on the spur of the moment and saw a black 2012 GTR...my internal 16 year old had instant wood. I noticed a sold tag on it and the sales manager said that is was one of the two black ones they had set aside for a Brazilian buyer and they were waiting for $20000 deposit for each one of them...the deadline being last night @ 5pm...but if they didn't get it by then I could have one of them.
My lack of buyers remorse kicked in...called my finance guy and told him what I was looking at and he started talks with the sales manager @ Nissan. I'm all set as far as financing and I just needed them to have a car for me to drive off the lot...shoot to last night. I get a call @ 6:30pm and the sales manager I was talking to said nothing yet from the Brazilian buyer and if I wanted to come in the morning to drop off my deposit and finish the deal...my finance guy calls me and says he will wire the difference in the morning and along with my downpayment so that the Nissan dealership would have a paid GTR.
What I didn't know was that the sales manager I was talking too was trying to sell the GTR from under another sales manager...AND the Brazilian buyer had come through with the deposits last night @ 7:45pm...which I didn't know about until this morning when I showed up to give my downpayment check.
The sales manager I was talking to was off and the other sales manager that did the original deal with the Brazilian buyer comes out and apologizes profusely that they now don't have a GTR for me...I'm used to Murphy's Law and used to salespersons so I wasn't really upset.
Long story short...they found a red 2012 GTR at another dealership. They are shipping it here on the dealerships dime and will honor the original invoice price that they told my finance guy. Should be here in a couple of hours...pics to come.
PS The interior will need a redo...better leather, suede, and contrasted stitching and modified DCT steering wheel. I'll drive a couple months stock and move towards mid-pipe and a "mild" Cobb tune (they are still working on breaking the 2012 code anyway). I'm keeping the stock head unit and replacing all the speakers and amps...then I should be done...I think.

Its all over bro---- I got my lowly 2009 more than 2 years ago and to this date its the best performing car Ive owned. I actually dont mind the interior but seeing what you do to your cars, it will not be enough as you said.
Of course modding is a must, this car loves mods and you will be in the low 130's with some simple cheap adjustments. I did medium mods and put down 554hp at the wheels. The tranny is sooooo damn efficient; it clearly helps make this car so fast even for 3900 lbs.
Ill be honest though, if I had to drop my 997TT or the GTR- I would keep the Porsche. Its a tough tough call but the Porsche inspires me to drive and get better while the GTR basically downloaded my improved driving skills.
Red is amazing in a GTR IMHO--- check out member "Murtaza" 's car at Nagtroc.org--- its a beaut. Click Here
Congrats- the car is just flat out stupid- Fikse (member here) had a 2009 and just got a 2012 is running stock 11's at 124mph+ and 0-60's in 2.8 seconds. They really bumped up the boost on the 2012's plus a few other nice tweaks.

Congrats! you definitely will not be disappointed as Vic stated. I drove an AMS tuned alpha 9 GT-R and fell in love. It's next on the list once I have the funds to do so

Famous last words...... congrats on the purchase. It seems the GTR is the natural progression from the E55. I would like to have another rocket so I may explore the GTR. But I will got 2010 I can no longer justify buying new unless it is a lease.

Congrats on the purchase. I am heavily involved with helping many shops out with GTR Trans upgrade. I own one as well. You will love it.

The ADV1 wheels are not for me, too much form over function. Those wheels in the 20 inch format are circa 32 lbs or close. But they look amazing.
The stockers are about 26 lbs. Stay Japanese or HRE if possible... I went BBS.

Thanks guys...Jim...I had to upgrade a storage unit I have from 10'x15' to 10'x30' to accommodate the...E55. I'll keep the OG for as long as it runs (and it still runs ***** deep)...but my garage is sorely lacking in space given I added the Suburban a couple months ago along with the 65 (my wife's C300 was always banished outside of the garage).

At this point, I'll probably make a decision on wheels the same time I do the mid-pipe and tune. Goes to show you how much I know about wheels...I thought they would be lighter than the stock Rays.

Congrats!
I think the dealership did you a service. Red is fantastic color on the new gtr.
I have a feeling this will become your favorite in a heartbeat.
BTW...I hope you know you are my hero

agreed....I love the red.
My buddy just received his black 2012 GT-R...had it shipped to him in Germany. He had a tough four hour drive from Bremerhaven back to Sindelfingen....3500rpm and 95mph limit for break-in

Yes they did make a short run of 11's. I have one. Some of the upgrades that are on the 12' were on the 11' like the much nicer mfd display.
The 12 power difference is mainly just from the tune, the engine hard parts are the same.

Re: New GTR
The GTR, especially the current HP upgraded model is an awesome machine. IMO it looks better in red too.
Now IF they made a convertible.....I'd very likely have one in my garage.
Congrats. Have fun.
