That piece covering the stock subwoofer.. just pull it off, its held in with clips...
I taped into the subwoofer wires, than into a LOC, to the amp... have 2 12s (kicker komp vr's) bass turned up and it hits HARD... gotta find a new box though, rox box weighs almost 100lbs with the subs lmao![smash](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smashfreak.gif)

I dont think the stock amp will have enough juice to power the aftermarket subwoofers...nor would it be any good for the subwoofers.
I unplugged the stock subwoofers as the aftermarket, than tape into them, the LOC sends signal to the amp, than to the subwoofers...

Sound travels in waves, and the deeper the frequency, the longer the wave. This is why tweeters are very directional, and lower range speakers (subwoofers) are not.
Another factor that comes into play is the fact that pointing the woofers to the rear of the trunk "loads" the woofers, which allows them to provide more output, similar to when a home subwoofer is placed in a corner. Any surface that you can bounce the bass off of usually makes it sound like it is louder, much like putting a tight bend in a water hose will increase the pressure.
Finally, reflecting the bass off of the rear of the trunk allows you to hear the bass further into the length of the wave, allowing you to hear a deeper portion of the bass from your position in the front of the car.
The only time that firing the woofers toward you would be recommended would be if you are building a 'wall of subs' behind you, or if you are putting subwoofers in a truck behind your seat.
- In a truck, not only is this usually your only option, but it also works very well because of the fact that the back of the seat loads the woofers giving you optimal bass for the small amount of cabin space that you have to work with.
- In the case of building a sub wall, the amount of bass you get will be determined solely on how much power you are using, how many woofers you are using, and the size of the individual enclosures. You will be able to hear the movement of the woofer cones, but you will have so much bass firing right at the back of your head that it won't really matter.

I have a 12w6v2 also with an old school punch power 800a2 amp.I hooked it up a while ago and got the stupid error mess on the dash.
Did anyone figure out a real way to fix this?I think after 400watts the car is really picky to voltage draw.
Today is my day off so I might try a few things.I bought a huge capacitor and will run the sub at 8 ohms or what ever I can get out of it.I dont remember if its a dual 6ohm or d4ohm.

Hi, I got the system installed and it sounds great! I got a little bit of rattling due to license plate and having interior still torn apart, but I think it will go away once it is put all back together. By no means am I an audio aficionado, but it definitely is an improvement over stock.

Woot! Thanks Roverron. Tbal, the clips you were talking about were the black one's from inside the trunk. I just used a rubber mallet and flat head screwdriver to get it out real easy

Would love to see that write up. even some tips and tricks. I am thinking about changing mine. I have 2 rockford 12s with a 900watt AMP. just sitting in the garage from my last car. would like to here the details and problems you had to overcome other than wiring. did you just tap you amp into the battery in the trunk.

I do know they wired the amp to turn on with ignition and they did it through a wire in the harness going to the fuse box in the trunk. I am getting the red "battery light" now, so I might have to figure that out next. One thing after another.

Mikey sorry for the late response... I didn't even do that, unless the clips were loose from the previous owner or something, but i just lifted the cover from the corner and pried it up lol.

What sort of Pix's? It's a comand NTG 2.5 headunit out of a 2009+ E63, I've posted about the conversion in the past. You need to remove anything on the MOST ring that is NOT NTG 2.5 (In other words EVERYTHING that is in the car stock. Radio, Audio Gateway (Amp/tuner unit in the trunk) CTEL module, SDAR module (If installed) Lignuatronic module (If installed), CD Changer, Ipod Interface (If installed) Nav Processor/DVD Drive (If installed) Bluetooth Phone interface (If installed) You replace all that with NTG 2.5 headunit (which has Nav, Linguatronic, Bluetooth and DVD Changer built in), Main Amp, Sub Amp, SDAR/HD Radio module, Media Interface (Ipod interface) and a Conversion wiring harness from Comandonline.co.uk
Install took me 8 hours going very slowly, if I did it again I can probably do it in 4 hours

Nice and Clean. , do you have any pics of where they spliced in or which wire they used for the 12volt signal switched. I am about half way thru the install of those rear lights as well , thanks for the Tip. I will post a DIY for it and save you from taking it apart again ,

And THIS is why I picked up an '09. Don't want to mess with the factory system if I can get good quality sound. That much of a difference eh?
