Hey guys a friend of mine has an 07 E63, he loves the car but after I let him drive my 55 he's now convinced he wants one. I had an idea because his car is modified heavily (not engine) in the interior and exterior instead of selling it, getting an E55 then facelifting it and getting the interior pieces in why not sell the E63 drivetrain and buy an E55 drivetrain, shouldn't cost him that much. I think the 63 drivetrain is more expensive so he'd actually end up having to pay less than 1-2k. I know that's assuming he sells his drivetrain and gets the E55 drivetrain for a good price. By the way he actually lives in SoCal not in Melbourne he only came for a visit so being in the US it should be cheaper too.

Only problem he pointed out is will it fit directly, what other steps, what tiny details that are different which could cause delays and headaches. Anyways guys I saw a CLS500 who did an 55k swap so why not this. What do you think? By the way convinced him to join the forum, finally so should see him here anyway.

I just said why that's not very feasable. He has alot of non-engine mods to the car body and interior. He also got rid of the old ones, he'd have to sell it with the new parts then buy the parts again to swap or buy original Merc parts and keep his ones. This isn't a E350 or E500 swap, the E63 drivetrain is of MORE value than the E55s, the steering rack on the 63 is better to, it's sharper than the 55.

 

Dude what you are proposing makes no sense. Sell the e63 and buy an e55 and take the extra cash to do the conversion and whatever else you want to do.

Still held up tbal! It was headers or e63 conversion and I chose the one which has not panned out so far lol. I now need cash to get my car fixed, so after I get my refund I will be doing it ASAP!

Yep after reading my post again and the comments I think you guys are right. He never considered it anyway, I assume even the custom bits can be taken out, all in all probably cheaper. By the way how come you guys can't put an older motor in a newer car?

 

Most states ban installing older motors into newer cars due to regulations, emissions, etc. makes it impossible for the car to be street legal and you'll be hit with some serious fines (thousands of $$ here in tree hugging CA) for doing such a thing.

Really......I mean REALLY?!!! You complain of a nanny state come to AUS. First off is the car prices, when the E55 was brand new it was $250,000, the new E63 is also 250k, now the Australian dollar is now STRONGER than the US dollar, so in US dollars that number is ~270k USD. If you want a Ferrari 599 expect to pay ~600k same with Murcielago etc. I had to work my life off and save for 4 years to get the E55. It's not like our salaries are much more, depending on what you do. Now my friend in California can get the E55 for around 32k in good condition, am I right? This insane price is because of a luxury car tax put in so people would buy the ****box domestic market which is also over expensive.

Houses, same, interest rate is around 7% now and they're introducing a new "carbon tax" to "help" the environment, as usual another way to steal people's hard earned cash. Now you might say that we have free health care and better education system. Truth is our population is ~21 million, which means of course we're going to have better public health care than the US. Here's the catch though even though we do have free health care things like operations, sometimes urgent have a waiting list unless you guessed it PRIVATE COVER, and the education system, forget it, it's so **** poor it forced me to pay for private schools for the kids. That's on top of the tax I pay and GST (which is another tax) and insurance etc etc etc.

There's the end of my rant, just trying to show you that even though you think you have it bad, others have it worse. Either way my time here is numbered, trying to move to California soon, preferably SoCal as I have friends and family there. Lots of Australians are doing this, soon we'll all have left this place. Shame, this country is the most beautiful in the world, it kills me to see it being run by degenerate bigots.

All of them said the same thing, and none of them have ever met. All you have to do is buy a woman a drink or two, be nice, and it’s panty dropping time. True or false? I tend to think it was due to them being in the Navy that got them laid all of the time.

 

That's kind of irrelevant but yes there are abusive men here, it's not like you think though I mean I'm pretty sure the US has them too. The point is this country has nothing to offer for someone who wants to LIVE here, sure holiday destination is good but as a home it sucks, not due to the country itself but the people running it. About the Navy thing, possibly, maybe they just have some uniform fetish lol I don't know but yes women here are easy. Trust me, not all but more than you think. You want to get laid, come here and flash your wallet and that's it. I must say standards here over the years have pretty much gone out the window.
