I have a 2007 E63 and the dealer is telling me that I need new front rotors and pads. The quote they gave me is crazy!!! Does anyone have any tips for finding aftermarket rotors?

Let me guess...about $2,600 for the front rotors and pads alone, right? I was given a quote like that too.

I just got done replacing rotors on my 55 4 rotors all the way around from MB were just shy of $400

I would get the Evosport front rotors and stock pads...Should be right around $1500...You should really measure your front rotor thickness though also...Most SA's say change pads, change rotors, but these fronts should last thru 2 pads...

i have a set of rb rotors. high quality and super light. mine weigh in at 19 lbs

ok here ya go! my setup involves going from a 2 piston front/1 piston rear to a slk55 6/4 setup. using the c32 rb rotor it gives me a perfect offset and my calipers have the 340mm brackets so the rotors are a perfect fit. less than 1 week from order to delivery. also once the outer rings are toast you can replace them for around 200$ each.

now the downside. r/b will only warrenty the rotors if you use their recommended pads. hawk pads semi metallics and ceramics are available but i dont know ther squeal factor. porterfields can be used but again check with r/b to ensure the pads are compatible with the hardness of the rotors

r/b just emailed me and said not to use any ceramics with the 2 piece rotors, only semi metallics would be advised. they build them so im hunting decent semi metallic pads

You didn't say the mileage on your car, but I'd try replacing just the pads first with new OEM pads.

Thats what I did last year; my rotors looked a little rough from too many triple digit slowdowns, pads were about 60% worn. Replaced the pads, and the new pads had the rotors looking MUCH better within 500 miles. Everything still looks excellent a year and 4K miles later, and my car stops right now when needed

When the time comes for new rotors, I'll go with Evosports and OEM pads. Everyone I've heard from has been happy with them and they offer performance benefits as well as lower cost than the OEM rotors.

at what point do the rotors need to be replaced? whats the spec range(measurement)?

Initial thickness is 1.4inch, minimum on the rotor should be 1.299inch.

If I was at 1.3inch and had no plans of tracking the car, I might wait a little. Of course if I had no plans of tracking the car I would be very tempted to use the single piece E55 rotors which are MUCH less expensive.

I just had BenzWorks rotors installed and love them. Serge is the man and once again did a great job on my car.

so i just dug through the 210 pages of maintenance records for my car... looks like the front pads and rotors were replaced at 32K miles...didnt see any record of the rears being replaced.. i feel like its safe to say the rotors need to be replaced soon. i was told to day by a S65 owner the rotors can last through two sets of pads? if this is true... then im ok.. but.. i donno how true that is. any advise?
