Wrong oil in my car!???
Been reading posts, and basically came to the conclusion anything other than 0w40 in the e55s is BAD.
Went to add some oil to the car today, the people who did my oil change few months back gave me some of the left overs. They used Motul 8100 C3 5W40! Is that bad??? Should I be concerned?

I do not believe Motul is even on the approved brand list for AMG engines, but it's not like you're going to throw a rod or have severe engine wear from a few months of using 5w40. Just use mobil1 0w40 from now on...

Motul > Mobil 1
You shouldn't be worried, they gave you the good stuff. Plus, you can use a little extra viscosity in the hot summer months.
I'd run Motul in mine if I could justify the expense.

Ah, i stand corrected. So Motul is a superior brand? Never heard of them til now.
But I wouldn't label Mobil1 as crap either, it's recommended by AMG for a reason? And not just for marketing or whatnot.

So motul is better than mobil 1? But Motul doesnt fall under the MB specs 229.50 required for the 55k's.
Motul is good for MB 229.31 and 229.51

Just checked Motul's website, and it DOES meet the 229.50 spec MB requires! Relief lol

The MB 229.5 standard is more stringent than 229.3 in terms of ageing and oil film resistance
(extended drain interval : on-board computer), detergent/dispersant power (ACEA B4) and requests
fuel economy performance : 1.7% fuel economy improvement versus a 15W-40 reference. The
specification MB 229.5 applies to all MERCEDES Gasoline engines, including AMG (in 5W-40
viscosity grade) except SLR, and to all MERCEDES Diesel without DPF engines

Mobil has been used in the aviation world for decades. Also just a reminder that all our 55K supercharger drive gears and clutches in the supercharger use some highly specified Mobil oil for working well over
100 000 rpm Fighter Jet oil.
Also try Castrol RS, if you can still find some.
