Unhappy Rear tires went BOOM! pix

Went upto Whistler, BC this weekend, and of course spirited driving was defiantly the cause of this, but I didn't know this could happen as its never happened to me before! One tire burst, one was on the verge of bursting, hence had bro bring me his spare... Scary ****t...

Not rubbing, stiff suspension, slammed car, negative camber, heat all arent a good mix.

Tires were fine for the car, I guess the many factors, and low tread cause the failure...

damn remember I jokingly said you should check your tire pressure in your split coolant thread...maybe you should have taken that seriously haha. you could have been rubbing on the sway bar, I was tucking rim on my stockers and needed spacers because the tires were being eaten away.

I don't know why every one is suggesting/asking reasons to why this happened......if anyone has witnessed his 'spirited' driving, they would know this was the cause....

Glad to here everything is ok man.

It happens if you run them under inflated on this car. I've had numerous issues with my tires due to small tire pressure issues causing sidewall damage. I've come to the conclusion that you should be checking tire pressure at least once a week or pay the consequences.

I dont know if many of you are checking the inside edge of your tire, but all the ones I have seen are significantly worn on the inner lip. Mostly on the Fronts so this is a little strange for the rears. I had a small piece come off on me one time while doing over 100mph and alerted me to this issue. 2 sets later and still the same issues MB dealer says front end is perfect just a combination of large tire with lots of Camber. I see yours failed . check you other inner side wall and you will see its close. I run 40-42 and have an after market tire pressure system. Orange racing setup , 170.00 and last 7 years ,gives temp and pressure with warnings. here is a link.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Orang...Q5fAccessories

just swap out your filling nipple and your ready to go. we did this with the tires still on the rim. just deflated and pushed in some. has the cigar lighter plug or you direct connect. really a must for these low profile tires. Just a wise thing to do if you pushing them so you can tell , pressure issues and Temp issues at all times. small setup that fits in the ashtray area as well.
