Look at this engine. Under the bonnet of the new BMW M5 lies a newly developed, high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo (consisting of Twin Scroll Twin Turbo technology, a cross-bank exhaust manifold, High Precision Injection petrol direct injection and VALVETRONIC fully variable valve control), maximum output of 412 kW/560 hp at 6,000 – 7,000 rpm and peak torque of 680 Newton metres (502 lb-ft) between 1,500 and 5,750 rpm. The instantaneous power delivery and sustained thrust familiar from M cars are the key to acceleration of 0 – 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds (0 – 200 km/h/124 mph: 13.0 seconds).

Wait...do the turbo's sit where the intake manifold normally is? The turbo setup looks kinda weird...must find more info on this.

The Turbos, sit in the V wedge of the engine, between the cylinder heads.
Man, those things are going to generate alot of heat, and melt the engine covers....LOL
Also look over top the strut towers, could this be an active suspension, or airmatic?
It looks like wires running into the strut towers to me.

Here is the interior layout.

It looks like BMW has gone to a six piston front brake setup.

I'm sorry to say but the car isn't aggressive enough compared to the standard f10. Styling on the E-class has gone a long way recently, what with the CTS-V "esque" front and rear look

As long as the internal wastegates hold up and the HPFP doesn't fail, should run like a champ

Wow...crazy stuff.

I like the E63 interior better though. Heck, I still find the W211 interior to be pretty awesome.

Check this out guys...that engine is freaking backwards from you average V8. The intake manifolds are on the sides ( where the exhaust manifolds normally are ) and the exhaust manifold with the turbo's are in the V ( where the intake manifold normally lies ).

Pretty crazy setup.

Great photo, to capture your assessment. And I think that your total spot on, on this one.

Take a look at the engine outside of the car. They actually reversed the intake and exhaust ports! Old school but I bet it make packaging much easier.

*Edit* Damn GT-ER you beat me to the post!

Straight line speed aside, the car just looks more tossable. And I'm betting it will be if it lives up to the typical BMW M chassis.

Yullie, no air suspension but it will have electronic dynamic dampers (EDC), similar to Porsche's PASM.

I'll tell you what...I'd take a CTS-V over the M5/E63. It's not only cheaper, the probabilities of it being a stupid quick car are higher. Plus, the coupe is just sick.

Actually, Bangle was the lead Designer when the F10 was being developed. People just assume that he wasn't because the F10 is rather understated and "bland", while what are known as the "Bangle Designs" were fussy and awkward, and because he resigned in '09, which was far after the F10 was done and locked away.

I'll take a regular W212 over an F10 due to my appreciating for its styling and engineering more-so, but something about "M5" is just so cool. I'd have a tough time choosing between an M and the E63, if I wanted one of these cars. I'd probably go E63 anyway, knowing me.

With the turbos and the exhaust manifold in the center "V" of the engine, how are the turbo downpipes and exhaust with the built in cats routed? That I would like to see.

The coupe looks like the hunchback of Notre Dame and it feels like it's been glued together with a downs syndrome kid's snot. I drove one a few weeks ago right before my friend blew the doors off it in his modded M5 (highway pulls).

Shame because I was seriously considering the sedan before I came to my senses and bought a CPO E63 with a longer warranty for less money and low miles....
