Warranty work

I have always taken my cars to the dealers I bought them from for warranty work and all maintenance.

This time I placed my order with a dealer quite far away [partly due to the odd behavior of the neighboring dealer].

It seems several of the people on this list buy their E 55's from dealers not necessarily close by.

What is your experience getting repairs done by dealers who did not sell you the car?

Warranty work at other dealers should be no issue at all. As a matter of fact, good dealers make more off service than they do from selling the vehicle. Other service departments will welcome your business. This has been my experience with my pervious BMW, and my current MB. Find a service department you are happy with and reward them wih your business. A trust-worthy relationship will keep your vehicle in top shape for years.

Thank you Teflon. Any advice as t how to approach the service department? Wait until I need them and go in? Or go introduce myself and talk with them.

I've done both, but I felt best when I was able to go in and talk to them ahead of time. I asked how many of my type of vehicle had the dealer sold, how many did they service, etc. Their Experience with AMG. Also tried to get the personality/"vibe". I went to one dealer who admitted they never saw any AMG in there, and I didn't like him to boot, so I moved on.

I'm **** about servicing my car, and I have to feel I'm doing the right thing. If I can't trust the mechanic, I'm simply not going to do business, under warranty or otherwise.

Picking a sales person is a little like that too, but unfortunately, a car is much more of a commodity than good service. . I spend a lot more time picking the mechanic than the dealer and the car .

This is an excellent question, given that it looks many new E55's will be bought from places around the country.

My question is does anyone have any contacts in the service department of MB of Greenway Plaza in Houston, that they would reccommend when I get my new E55?

Thanks

Can the Chicago Area folks help with a recommendation of good service departments on the North side. Loeber would be very convenient to me.

agreed. Knauz rocks. I havent had much experience with their MB service, but the BMW service dept is great. Their cool with aftermarket parts too, which is a big plus in my book.

Cindy Lawrence is my service advisor at Greenway. She takes good care of me.

I don't like the "service advisor" concept, though. I would rather talk directly to the person who is going to be doing the work on my car.
