Anyone actually found top speed of their 'delimited' E63?
I have been researching different specs of the W211 E63, and most of the top speed numbers I have found have had the asterisk next to them that the top speed is electronically limited. I even searched 'E63 top speed' on here and did not find what I was looking for. So has anyone on here actually experienced first hand what a stock E63 will top out at with the electronic speed limiter either removed or re-set to a number higher than the car will go? I am also curious how stable the car is at that speed.
The car continually amazes me how fast it is when taking its considerable heft into consideration. Squeezing the gas merging onto the highway makes me think this car could run forever.

stock I was able to get 167 bone stock and still had more..
Pick the car up in Florida and had it for 3 days. West Palm to Orlando at 3am that was what it did.
My BMW did 162 when limit was set to 155 so I am not sure about limits.
I had quite a few cars that had factory limiters but all went pass the factory limit. All my cars have gone pass the factory limits.. all of them in stock form.

I'm deliminted/tuned but haven't gotten past 147 (and that was on a two lane road!) . In order to see it top end I'll have to get up at 4am to go on a freeway run. Actually the best place to make a full pull here in the bay area is the San Mateo bridge - a 7 mile flat/level span before it rises.
Being in Calififornia you'll never really get 5 miles of open stretch with zero cars no matter what time you do it. I can just see the newspaper delivery truck doing 55 in the slow lane when I blow by at 170+
I might also take it out to Highway 50 in Nevada later this summer. They call it "the lonliest road in America" and it's laser smooth. All that casino money translates into really nice highways

I always thought the San Mateo bridge had cameras mounted along the span, hence my fear of opening it up there.

Yea I always tend to drive 70mph there. I've heard stories of people speeding and cops waiting at the other end to pull them over because the proof is on camera, but then again I've heard of people hitting 180+ on the bridge also. My friend managed to hit the speed limiter on his cls63 on 280N though.

So nobody has actually topped it out on the road without a limiter? That is surprising. I know that mine was still pulling pretty hard when the 155 mph speed limiter cut in, so I am looking forward to getting the limiter removed as soon as I can.

The P30 will do it's advertised 186. It shifts early into the last gear (at around 6200) before reaching the top (limited) speed very similar to how these cars will shift early out of first into second though. Someone try to "train" the E63 to not do that and get back to us.

Ran my stock CLS55 with 030 package across Alligator Alley here in South Florida one cool morning real early and came up on the limiter at around 188mph incdicated. Was still pulling quite strongly but was using up road real fast!!!
Car was totally stable and comfortable at that speed.

Interesting.
Granted I did not have a de-limited E63, I did hit 155, BUT, it did not stop there. It kept going but felt like it was at 30% power electronically. So it just felt like a huge power cut at 155 but kept going slower, 156, 157, to about 162 or something. I let off because it was taking too long.

I ran an Audi R8 V10 from 65-165 pulled on him by 5-7 lengths. I'm not stock AT ALL, she was still pulling like a Freight Train at that speed. She will pull to 190+ all day.. problem is running out of road..
This all took place in Mexico of course... I'm a 55 not 63...

What limiter?
I too have read several times that these are electronically limited to 155 mph. I have had mine up to 167 mph. A friend of mine, who has a 2008 CLS 63 AMG, claims he has hit 187 mph. I can't vouch for his claim of 187, but I am certain I hit 167 and had room to continue on.

Not sure on the 63 but my stock 55 was buried at 160+ on highway 5 in California on way to Harris Ranch in Coalinga. This despite being "limited" to 155 (250kmh)
M113 is lower revving and seems very unstressed in all situations compared to the harder revving M156
Last time I was pulling 130+ and my encapsulator shield under the car came loose, the fasteners gave way and it was dragging, a very deflating feeling when that happened!

Fastest I've gone is ~147 but that was in my mom's old C240.
