Let me tell you a story ...

When I "graduated" from a Honda Elite 80 cc to a CBR 600 F2 (a looong time ago) I thought "Wow! 12 sec. 1/4 miles all day long - I'll never get used to this!"

Within a month, I was twisting it on EVERYWHERE, urging it forward screaming "Come on ... Come ON ... COME ON!!"

It's amazing what you can get used to. (that line's from Roadhouse, btw)

Something like this, I was thinking ... not in the same position, exactly, but we have a V8 standing ready (off to the side).

very interesting.
The average mileage on a E55 is about 50 to 60k miles. Would you need to refresh the engine internal example piston rings etc to handle this additional boost?
Would piggy back ecu and fuel system be included or not?

Would it be possible to remove the supercharger for this system? Or would it just be dead weight? I would sell my supercharger!

This sounds awesome. I love turbos. So the idea behind this would be to replace the supercharger with a custom intake manifold, replace the headers with custom turbo manifolds, add the turbos and then downpipes to connect to the exhaust I assume?

Then of course some kind of inlet pipes for the turbos to air filters and oil feed lines from some kind of setup on the oil filter housing as well as oil return lines to the oil pan (not sure how you would go about the return line). And how about water cooled also, or just oil cooled turbos?

A kit with GT2868 turbos would be insane for torque like the supercharger provides as well as having 650whp capability on 93 octane pump gas and meth injection or slightly over 600 on straight pump. What are the limits of the stock rods in these engines though? That is kind of uncharted territory right? I know there are people who have ran nitrous in that level but that isn't a power level ran all the time since you aren't always using the nitrous when you mash the throttle like the turbos would be providing.

lol just but a 550 motor put some forged rods and pistons and turbo that instead. you will get more money selling the whole E55 motor rather than just the s/c

I know the supercharger is the heart of the E55 but if the twin turbo setup is more efficient I am down for that!

Oh yea ! if this kit can fit for W210 E55. Plus, W210 weight less than W211 so should be even faster !!! I like to keep my E55K with the SC on it. So for TT solution will be in W210, for budget of $6k to $8k should be fine.

As in the first post: this is a "thinking out loud" sort of thing. We're not looking to develop software, but many of the capable tuners in the community aren't in a position to develop the hardware - ECU tuning, be that OEM or standalone, wouldn't be part of our equation. Injector probably would be.

As for 50-60K miles - I don't think there would be any reason to refresh the engine, unless it lived those 50,000 miles 1320 feet at a time.

The kit would be M113-based, so (theoretically) it would go into a 1st-gen. ML, if one were so motivated.

So would you guys develop an intake manifold to replace the supercharger?

I think the rods have been pushed well into the 700 whp range on some of the mideast cars running nitrous and meth. At 600 whp on a nice, reliable 700 (crank) hp kit? Cake.

That's a unique turbine housing! Couple questions.
Is the wastegate integrated into that?
Is that one of those new stainless steel units I've been reading about?
Looks like you guys are coming along quite well. I spy some nice BEHR intercooler cores there too. BTW which engine is that?

Hee-hee! Yes, wastegate and cooling are in there - we have the cores (I think it was not quite a pound of pressure drop across the cores? have to ask Marcin again) and that's a 65AMG V12.

50-60k I can't imagine how long it will take me to pile up that kind of mileage

btw how's the TCU tuning coming along over at Speedriven?

We all would - but then prices start creeping up, accordingly, and didn't you start off at $2995? That's not far from wholesale cost just for those 2 turbos, not counting the rest of the materials and $0.00/hr labor.

what turbo's would you plan on using? Ive ran Garret, Holset, and Borg Warner all with great performance on my race cars.

Ya thats what I saw on STS's website. I would pay more when I have the money. Do you think youll have a system ready by December?
