the 350z is a nice car and a very nice car twin or single turbo'd...however the E55 is a much nicer car. the reliabilty of the 350z will go out the door once you boost it and the chances of issues will be equal to getting an E55 if not worse.

Nope! Only time you need to pull motor is when replacing turbos. People look at the engine bay and most people freak out but really it's Not that bad once you do coolant bypass and egr delete.

True...after spending $10K to get the same 500whp you can get on an E55 with less than half that. As for 700whp...while very doable...get you checkbook out because it'll cost you what a used 03 E55's costs...lol.

I have a car with VQ35 turbo .. fun to drive but not for long. E55 is a totally different class of car .. very functional, fun and the feel of quality inside. I have more $$ into my Nissan than my E55 ... I drive my E55 daily, the Nissan sits. Granted mine is a Maxima not a 350Z ... still 350Z vs E55? There wouldn't be a doubt in my mind! . Good luck with your decision!

waiting for the right e55
I had a Z32 and OMG it was the worst PITA to work with. I got it after my 240 back then and that was one of the easiest cars to work on haha.
Back on topic, the only thing I am worried about is the maintenance costs with the E55. Regardless of that, I am pretty sure I am now going to stick with the E55 . Its just a matter of time now before I find one I like!

I owned a 350z for 6 years and I boosted it in the 3rd year, twice (ill get into that in a minute). I also currently own a 05 E55.
First and foremost both these cars are much different in every single way. The 350z is a beautiful looking car but the interior lacks by alot. Lots of plastic and rattling (especially with coilovers and or springs). The handling on a stock 350z is excellent and the engine is very potent and responsive (03-04) stay away from the 06 rev-up motors with oil consumption problems. The interior of a E55 is much better and more refined comfortable and much better for traffic and long drives. The handling is less than sporty, but it makes up for it in the relentless torque on the throughout the power band.
My 350z I had the single turbo set up first from Turbonetics made about 380WHP 360ish TQ. It was fun to drive but that kit suffered from high temperatures (you think the e55 has it bad multiply that with this kit) so i had to get meth injection to go along with it. It helped a bit but it still had its problems on long drives. I upgraded from there with the APS twin turbo set up and a long with that I had to upgrade the bottom end of the motor with a built shortblock to handle the increase in boost and the added power. That kit made roughly 450whp on low boost and peaked up over the 500+ mark with race fuel and added boost. The temperature problem was gone but I had to deal with alot of weird issues and had to drive daily on a tilton 9lb flywheel (if anyone here has ever driven with a light flywheel you know what I'm talking about). Even with that kit my daily driveability suffered from the turbo kit and the complete track feel of the car with my coilovers and street-strip clutch and flywheel.
Even though I loved the race car look and feel of the 350z, every day was a hassle driving into parking structures, going over dips and dodging potholes. I bought the E55 to get away from all that and I will never look back.
Maybe I'm just getting old though lol.
