Engine Vibration at Specific RPM
My car has had an engine vibration since I got it 50,000 miles ago. It's not drivetrain-related as it occurs even in park. I feel it most(in the seat) when the engine speed is approximately 1,500-2,000 RPM under low load conditions or in neutral. It's not the balancer as that was replaced with the 180mm pulley/balancer and the vibration stayed exactly the same. I replaced the motor and tranny mounts a while ago, and though it lessened a bit, it was still there.
My only thoughts are that it's a harmonic(which should mostly be taken care of by the balancer), or the exhaust is somehow transmitting it to the floor of the car. I've been under the car numerous times and all the rubber exhaust insulators are good and nothing is rubbing. I should also mention that I get a rattling sound around 20-25mph in cold weather when I accelerate lightly in third gear, then it goes away as soon as the car gets some heat in it. I'm pretty sure it's not the CATS, as I've even beaten on them with a heavy rubber mallet and no rattle. I've always just accepted it, but I wanted to see if anyone has experienced this. Thanks!
