Lots of them. Dont want to hijack this thread. To clariy my original post, RT has made top mounted coolers for years and they sell them without re doing the hood. The current system needs more air. I'll keep up on this thread to see evosport's process on this mod. Good job guys. I still have my old evosport IC running strong.

None fast enough!
So we spent a little more time refining the design with the aim of truly optimizing the performance.

Here are the last of the flow graphs:

CNC programming is done. Material is being cut next week!

Thanks
Brad

(Might have ground clearance issues on lowered cars though... )

In all seriousness....can't wait to see the test results that show how this new setup does at removing heat.

Brad, can you explain to us what the colors and numbers mean?

I'm pretty sure they are a measurements of flow or the amount of loss of flow at give points.

BTT for a mid-week update?

I'd love to see some "in-process" CNC photos with big piles of metal chips everywhere and a gorgeous shiny part being revealed with each successive pass of the end mill....

Yes, I agree. I was hoping Brad would provide some finer meaning....like the areas in green are where it should be and it show this or that and means this and that.

What I think it's showing is that the design has very nice overall uniformity for pressure. The colors just help to show clearly where there is turbulence or pressure drops as a result of poorly designed areas. It sure seems like someone has been playing with those 3D models for a LONG time, and has already addressed trouble spots..... now there is just nice smooth flow and perfectly even pressure almost everywhere on that part.

Also, look at the actual number values in the legends that represent those different colors.....the gradient from color to color in a lot of cases is .0001 or .00001 (lbf/in^2). I don't understand all of the "propeller-head" details of those images, but controlling anything to a ten-thousandth or hundred-thousandth seems to be pretty highly optimized to me.

The real test would be to see those same models for the original "factory" part to see a direct comparison in smoothness, pressure uniformity and flow...

Brad,

OK.....going on 5 weeks now since this "teaser" thread was started. Time to post up photos of the goods!!

First parts were supposed to be coming off the CNC last week. SolidWorks images are only going to satisfy this crowd for so long....

That cooling package is highway robbery there is about a true $600 worth of parts there that anyone could piece together and unfortunately is a clear indicator of what this intercooler kit is going to cost aka double that. And I was curious what happen to last week and part going to be ready. Must be some technical difficulties going on with whoever is making them.

GT-ER, get the meth injection in yet? That is going to be the ticket for sure and at a song of $300-500.

i agree meth is the way to go bang for buck, especially if we can get a tune for it... I picked up about 30hp when i added meth and a VAST tune for my s4...

What these companies need to realize is the 55K platform is dying, and no longer the realm of people with more money than brains. The people likely to own a 55K car right now are the 2-4th owers who picked up the car for 20-40K. Ever other thread on this board lately is about warranty's because most people can't afford to own these and fix them if they break. While it's great that people get to own such an amazing car for the price of a new Honda Accord, it means most owners are not rolling around with 7g's in their pocket to buy a mod that will likely not net alot of HP( these top mounts are more for racing crowd anyhow)

The investment banker and oil sheik crowd are buying TT63's now. While you might be able to get them with the "Rich Guy Rip Off Tax", the average 55K owner won't buy these anywhere near that price.

I would say the target pricing for these to be a relatively sucessful product is $2499. Any more than that you will loose most people and a failure of a product. If that can't be produced and sold for a profit at that price or better, then don't bring them to market cause they will be luck to sell more than 1 set. FWIW Rentech has had top mounts for years for about 7K and I would guess there is probably no more than 5-6 cars with them.

My 2 cent..

Yup...I installed the kit already along with the EC injectors. I just got tuned today. I have yet to even drive the car though cause it's raining.

VERY well said brotha! Spot on! I have this image of the young 20's guy working his way up the corp latter but rolling in the now cheaper E55 looking at a 7K mod and laughing his Azz off. Here's hoping it can be made MUCH more cheaply than 7K.

Couldn't have said it better myself, some companies realized this and sell big heat exchangers and high flow pumps for $700 these days while some sell a cooling kit for $2500, or some companies sell bigger pullies and a tune for the price of just a tune from another company There are some out there with a clue but others still think they are dealing with a $90k car and a guy that doesn't know much more than how to put gas in it, but he has a fat wallet and wants to make it go faster and will gladly take the *** raping!

Just get another flash for the injectors or an actual dyno tune? I am sure you are going to **** on the difference you feel with that meth running and keeping the intake temps way lower since I assume it is still nice and warm where you are. Fricken 91* here today!!
