Painted my surge tanks

Well I saw a thread on here for some powder coated surge tanks. I thought to myself, that looks awesome, but I don't have $300 to spead.....but what I do have is $10 for some hugh heat red paint. It took me about an hour to prep and paint, then thee waiting game of watching paint dry. I think they came out pretty good. Thanks for the idea Shardul!!!!

That's what I want to do, just don't have the cash to do it. Maybe later down the road. Thanks for the compliments though.

periodically apply wax on them to prevent fading due to heat

Tanks look good. I like how Shardul had his powder coated has a lot more gloss to it. But hey for $10 and time you cant beat your tanks. I def like that more over the stock ones. I bet you can find some clear or paint to make em shine out a bit more.

Great Job

Shot in the dark, but do you know if this works to keep the carbon fiber engine covers from fading or turning yellow? I can't see myself spending $2500 of something that adds no performance and yellows in less than a year.

Mantooth, the yellowing is due to the epoxy the manufacture uses when making it, don't think the wax is gonna help.

Thanks kamilclk430. I think when I have more time I will put a few more coats on and clear it with high temp clear gloss. Eventually I will get them powder coated.

if you prep it right and maintain it, it'll last just as long. Subaru and Ferrari both use wrinkle red paint on their manifolds and my track car has a painted valve cover and the bay gets ridiculously hot (T70 turbo ) and I have yet to see a chip or crack.

That looks great. I know you said the supercharger was polished but due to the rough casting would it not be easier to just Chrome the supercharger?

Intakes Match your Brakes I like it a lot. Is your Supercharger coated? I'm getting my tanks done as we speak, I also went ahead and had the bolts done.

I preped it with a scuff pad and brake clean. Then applied 4-5 coats of VHT high temp ceramic silver out of a rattle can. Has held up perfect.
