Next tire purchase for 20" AMG wheels
Previous owner mounted Yoko S.drives front (245/35/20) and rear (275/30/20) on 20" AMG wheels. In the front, I have some rubbing. Not bad, but enough that I want it gone. There is barely, and I mean barely (credit card thickness) clearance between the top of the tire and the suspension bolt. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if it was shaved down a bit to fit. They are just too damn tall.
But finding alternative sizes is really hard. If I go 245/30/20 front and 275/25/20 rear, they are almost impossible to find online. And I'm worried that if I put on the exact same size I have now, I might end up rubbing the suspension bolt if there is even the slightest variation in the height of the tire. Can I expect all identically sized tires to actually be the same overall diameter and width?

You need a 245/30/20 up front, otherwise it will be too tall.
Probably my favorite tire, especially considering the price:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/285-2...item5199e76e92
You'll be able to slam the car on these if you wanted with no rubbing.

Sounds like the offsets on the rims may be off a bit for the W211 chassis. A 245/30/20 is the correct size tire for the front of the W211. Have you considered using 3mm or 5mm wheel spacers in front?

I doubt it's the offest, the front's are pretty versatile in terms of offsets you can range from high 30's all the way down to +10 depending on width, its your profiles that are causing you issues (245/35, 275/30 are incorrect). you need 245/30/20 up front and 275 or 285/25/20 rear

Gonna be hard to tell...
seeing as AMG doesn't make a 20" wheel for a 211. Better do some thorough checking first, prolly too far to the outside of the fender...

OK. Just went through my third set of tires for the beast. Current setup is 245/30/20 front and 285/25/20 rears. These are perfect for this car. Rear rim is 10 inches in diameter. I tried to change to 285/30/20 Continental DWS with treadwear rating of 540 in the rear and it looked like Total AZZ. Do yourself a big favor and go with the above setup. It gives the benz the Bad A stance that you want!

I'm struggling to picture that.
Thanks for all the tips folks. I don't know what brand the rims are, they are AMG clones (JWL VIA stamp), 2-piece, dbl-spoke, 20", silver, with the screws around the perimeter. you can kinda see them in my profile pic. I think they are 10.5" back, 9.5" front. I will likely do the 285/25 option in the back, seems like more options on tires, just worried about the fender fit.

This is the rim set, I'm guessing, from what I could find online. Which makes them 10, not 10.5 in the rear. http://www.nrauto.com/sub_index.asp?...s&spage=Wheels
