Did the Stealer ship just get me on this Manifold job?
I been getting this "System too lean Bank 1 " CEL code and after researching and at the dealerships diagnosis and members here saying just replace the intake manifold gasket as there was aTSB onit I get this code back after 40 miles of leaving the dealership.I was told the car at idle is dumping its max fuel of 6.0 and that is why it tosses that code.So after the tech was spraying parts cleaner heavy all around every where in the engine bay the car would only stumble when he hit the spot under that removeable panel with the benz emblem in front of motor. He sprayed it down and to the right on the lower area of the intake manifold and it stumbled a bit.So he said it must be st the gasket as they are known for it.So I spent the $400 to get the job done and here I am back with the same code. Please discuss!

I called the dealer and they will call me back when they speak to the tech about it. I do notice it is slightly choppy at idle only.Maybe it wasnt the Manifold Gasket and just a Vaccuum line in that area?I'll get my parts cleaner out and take that cover off and spray myself to see where it happens most?
Any and all replies are welcome. Thanks guys.

They said now it must be the manifold itself that needs replacing. They will get back to me with an estimate on that, ball park $4200! .What am I missing here? I dont see how it could be warped or anything, and if it was they should have seen that when they just did the gasket?

Is your car still under CPO warranty based on the mileage/years? If so, let them do whatever is necessary. If not, take to indy or troubleshoot and see if its a vacuum leak or something less drastic as warped manifold per dealer.

out of warranty 61k miles.Who is this Indy? the tech thinks if its the manifold on the outside area it could be sealed wth something like JB Weld so a cheap fix sinces its so minor and only leaks at idel to throw the code, lol

this sounds classic.......fix one thing, problem not solved....on to the HUGE costing task.......
of course they're going to say you need more work....
and telling them you paid for the problem to be fixed probably won't cut it....
just being realistic, good luck and keep us posted

ok, I took the air boxes up and removed the foam cushions and all surrounding items I could so I can spray parts cleaner around every inch of the intake and manifold along with all vacuum lines I could spot. There is no change in idle.
So what else could be the problem with it being to lean at idle only? What other valves or solenoids that have vacuum or PCV or check valves could be stuck open or malfunctioning?I sprayed 2 cans of parts cleaner every where with no change in idle.
Please advise on some things I can look for.
