WOW my mechanic is amazing - Fixed Air Ride Compressor
Well, I continuously had issues this past few months with my air ride. On my last visit, my mechanic found one of the air lines going into the compessor. Fixed that and everything was good. A couple of weeks later, the warning 'visit workshop' came back. We did another diagnostic and it showed the compressor was taking forever to fill up, sitting at 7-8psi. Well, after checking the lines for lines, no leaks. My mechanic finally said its the compressor. I did notice it being on alot when I did have the air leak, and I think thats what caused it to go bad.
OK, so here is what my mechanic did. As I went to see how much a new compressor or even a used one would cost, he took out the compressor and then systematically ripped it apart in like 20 minutes. It was unbelievable how many parts are involved into making a compressor. I had no idea there was silica particles inside the main assembly. Anyways, he found a few issues. He found a bit of water and an area that should be clean of dirt. After replacing some o-rings and polishing up the inside areas where it should be free of any caked on layers of dirt, he put the compressor back together and hooked it up. When we did the diagnostic, the pump worked better than new!!!! It filled up almost right away, like under 10 seconds. So basically he re-conditioned it. AMAZING stuff.
I paid him a couple hrs of labour...so, $180 total. That was way cheaper than new, and definitely around the ballpark for a used one. But this way, I seen what he did and turnaround was a couple of hrs.
Anyways I just had to share!
Oh and its been 4 days and no warnings, no signs of sagging.

Sorry, the shop is located in Calgary. The two guys that own it really know european cars. The shop is called Real Auto Pros and the main guy to talk with is Milan, and the tech guru is Alex. These guys have saved me so much money in the last 4 months. I hope to have this sort of connection in Stockton, as I'm selling the car and moving there permanently.
Shop rate is 90/hr. Mention me, 'Harry with the E55', and I'm sure they will take extra good care of ya.
