College thoughts! E55 and E39 M5 pondering..
I would be looking at 03-04s E55's with 60-80k miles and about the same for the E39. 01-03 60-80k miles.
Which would be better for the college atmosphere in your opinions? Lots of city driving, and it's not the cost of the maintenance so much as the occurrence of it. I don't want to have it in the shop when I need to use it. Im aware of the reliability but not if it all goes around the same time or just piece by piece over time with lots of trip to dealer/indy
I know the E55 is hella faster but a complete pig otherwise.. also has the slight feminine styling
People say the interior is much nicer in the E55 but I have been in a reg E and only thing that felt better were the seats..
The E39 m5 has leather stitched dash, lower dash, doors, etc. not to mention the same alcantara headliner and whatnot

the usual: E55 is a luxury rocket, M5 is a sports sedan. a boat that hauls *** or a nimble (relative term) yet still powerful M5.
I just went and checked out an E55 and the interior sucks *** compared to the E39 m5. In the E39, some tech is missing and the overall design of it is more aged but when I see the pockets of the door in the E39 M5 all stitched up and then see the E55 that has a vinyl dash?
Where do they get luxury car from? how quiet it is inside? ride comfort?
To me the M5 seems much more of a RAW, connected with the driving experience, while the E AMG is more of a refined, cruiser that'll beat the **** out of you lol.
Also I feel the exterior is much more feminine on the E. Sexy yes, but pretty feminine.. no offense or anything
As in my friend keeps telling me that and trying to talk me out of it for such, and then later when looking at the one tonight, my father said the same thing ha!
So if I do choose the E55, the 3rd party extended warranties... What I've read is all over the place, some places dropping coverage after a couple repairs, some not covering it, some covering everything. Doesn't seem like there is much long-term info for these cars
I definitely don't want to hear anything from a person who chose a C32..

OP, you need to concentrate on fixing your grammar and worry about the car afterwards.
You're comparing apples to oranges. The E60 M5 is the equivalent of the W211 E55, not the E39.

[/I][/I]do you go into the C32 forums and simply post a smily that has nothing to do with the thread's topic? Useless.
I think you all need to relax a bit from a joke saying I don't like someone cause the car they chose.. Guess this happens enough on a serious basis that you don't find it funny..

you should work on your literacy too, as the question is not an overall comparison of E39 to E55, but more specific.

dude go by a bimmer, the fact that your undecided because of door stitching makes you sound like a retard. Yes it's a luxury sedan with a lots of punch, but if you want you can put it in confort mode and it somewhat cruises like a e500 just a little bit stiffer, i know because I also have a e350 4matic. It isnt the greatest in the corners and after 50k miles it's gonna be in the shop alot and you might have to put an extra 4-5grand in performance mods for cooling and stuff.
So go buy an m5 seems to be for you. good luck

Should we tell you where to eat lunch tomorrow next?
Or whether charmin or cottonelle feels better when you need to wipe your ***?
Worst thread topic ever.

Listen dude M5 don't have leather on the dash. They have leather on the console just like 06 and up E55s. The leather in a BMW pales in comparison. I got in my friends M5 and was surprised how cheap it felt as well as the typical BMW smell to it.
You knock the C32 but you don't realize that many of us owned one previously and I have trounced a few E39 M5s in my time.

M5 sounds like the car for you buddy. I could tell after I read the first post. Don't worry, you're not missing out on much. The extra torque/comfort in the E55 really isn't a big deal. E55s break down all the time too. Mine's in the shop more than it's with me. They're such crappy cars. I cry myself to sleep every night because I didn't get the M5. Don't make the same mistake that I made. Go get an M5 and enjoy the hell out of it!
And don't come back.

E55 FTW!
Is this a joke It's the E55 NO QUESTION, the E39 M5 is an amazing car but it's outdated design and lack of power make it much inferior to the E55. The auto in the E55 will make daily driving a breeze, believe me as much as it's fun to drive a manual, start stop situations can become irritating. I owned the E39 M5 when first came out, it was an amazing car and I don't regret it one bit however it has become old. As for the interior, also NO COMPETITION, the E55 has one of the best looking interior for a luxury sedan, it's a warm and nice place to be unlike the E60 M5s interior. The E39 M5s interior is also nice but not as much as the E55. You also have the power, the potential for more power and the looks. Like I said, the E39 M5 is outdated design, the E55 can be face-lifted to the E63 W211 and that car can pass off as a 2011 model to a person who doesn't know the E Class very well. One more thing....at the end of the day, it's a Mercedes and I'm sorry to BMW fans but the luxury and prestige king is still Mercedes, BMWs may be sportier but the symbol for the luxury car is MERCEDES-BENZ

2006 E55 AMG --old cars -- E39 M5, 2.7tt Audi S4, E36 M3 **Ducati 996, 748
i had both cars -- my M5 was modded and it still got toasted by my OEM E55 --- now the E55 is modded and it would be a slaughter ---
On the other note -- I love the M5 -- great car - I cant complain -- If money is not an issue / repairs --- then I would go with the E55.
Also, E55 is way easier and cheaper to Mod -- if your type of person who gets the itch.

Just a little lightheartedness towards someone who made a useless post, who must be pretty bored to venture into W211 land and do that..

The E39 M5, while nice, looks like an OLD car. Even while it was being sold it looked outdated inside and out. It's a performer no doubt but it looks 10 years older than an 8 year old E55.
