How Fast do People Drive Where You Live?

I live in South Florida and travel I-95, the Turnpike and I-75 on the regular with the cruise set at 80 or more and still have a lot of people going past me at 90 or more. Even in the urban areas like Miami the traffic flys when it's not congested. Cruising at 90+ isn't all that unusual in the rural areas.

I was recently in the Seattle area in my rental and cruising at my usual 80+ and passing everyone and getting dirty looks in the process. Apparently, folks around there drive pretty conservatively by the reactions I got.

So, just curious as to what's acceptable where you live.

It depends on the time of day. People seem to drive slower in the early mornings here in DFW. Generally though, on the highway, 60-80 is pretty normal depending on the highway and associated speed limit.

Pretty much this, unless you're on George Bush. If you are going below 75 in the left 2 lanes you're pissing a bunch of people off Especially me

I moved WAY out to the western tip of Jersey and the Penntards here do 5-10 less than the posted limit every chance they get.

DNT moves pretty fast too. Everytime I head to Park Place, I tend to let her stretch her legs.

Yes, all of our top speed runs have been at the top by 360...I do love bombing thru the sweepers in Addison on an early morning That one part going south when you cross 635 and can see almost 2 miles ahead is another place my foot tends to twitch downward.!

Los Angeles. I generally cruise at 80 and it's basically with the flow of traffic.

Pretty much the speed limit to ten over max around me, north of Charlotte, NC. South Carolina is maddening where people drive the speed limit, right next to each other for miles and will NOT move over... When you try to pass them, they speed up.

Arizona is still the wild west. Drive how you want, when you want.

People usually stay around 10 over. Cops usually don't pull you over at +15, but get at +16 and you get pulled over.

Atlanta is one of the fastest driving cities in the Country. The problem is most of the people don't know how to drive at speed. They'll be in the far left lane and right before their exit they will try to move over six lanes.
Bill Elliott commented that he feels safer being on the track racing NASCAR than driving around 285 in Atlanta !!!
Lately with the various cities running out of money, the cops are all about catching speeders for revenue. Go to court, they will compromise the points, but not on the fine. It is all about the money.
You get outside of Atlanta, and things slow down a bit, but when you come into Atlanta on any of the interstates that feed into the City, it warps you in.

South Florida is great, if you catch the driving windows at the right time, otherwise you are sitting !!!

Nobody in Jacksonville knows how to drive, and all go 5 under the speed limit. If it rains, watch out, you would think its a damn snow storm.

I used to live in ft lauderdale and people and the Broward sherif drive like dum****s. I would see them on the way to work on 595. And the same fools in the operating room with busted tibias or femurs. Or worse.

Now back in so cal. I'm lucky to to get over 25 on the damn traffic fwy. But I still need an amg

I live just off of I75. I use it, 595, 95, the Sawgrass, and the Turnpike on the regular. So I know what you are talking about. Traffic flies here. And I usually go faster if I need.
I also travel lot for my golf tournaments, and usually get the same reaction from people when I go flying by. I have learned that in certain places you NEVER go over the speed limit. But it will vary from state to state.

I must and probably am getting old, but people around here in the KC metro are really flying IMHO. I don't mind people rolling 75-80 (65mph limit) on the freeways but the fools doing 20-25 over on side streets amazes me. Occasionally I try to see just how fast people will go before they slow down (pace them). More than once, have they've gone at least 65 in a 45. Also, it's never any cool cars, always the cheapest POS Kia, taurus, minivans are flying. Makes me wonder if people are just trying to show me up cause I'm in a benz or if 25 over is their norm??

PS. I also love the ****'s that do all they can to pass you then slow the F down. WTF is that about???

Lol. We have the same likes. And I will agree with you on the tractors. My brother lived in OK for 15 years and I've seen quite a few tractors on the road.

People in Atlanta drive pretty fast, I keep it 80-90 on 285 and 80-85 outside of the city. There are still a lot of idiots in town and plenty of cops waiting to give you a ticket.
