Naughty dirty air filters :D

Figured I have nothing to do today and going to Speedworld 1/4 mile tomorrow, thought I would clean my air filter and remove charcoal filters.

Had this set of K&N air filters since about 35k miles, at 65k now.

I washed the filters, and used an air compressor to blow all the air out, let it sit for about an hour used the compressor again, then let it sit for another few hours, I'm about to put them back in, but I don't want to use the K&N oil for fear of MAF sensor getting covered with the stuff. Also charcoal filters are out too.

The box was just filthy also, so I took a shop vac to it, and wiped down with water and microfiber.

what the eff????? I sure hope this is a joke.

It says on the packaging NOT to use compressed air, and you're not going to use the oil? LOL. So basically you're ignoring the directions on how to care for them, because it may get the maf dirty? LOLOLOL. And ignoring the fact that the oil traps dirt and other crap that you do not want in your engine, but hey, you evidently know best.

Did you eat paint chips as an adult? herp herp derp derp.

W211 55s don't have maf sensors so all good there. Now dirty tb area and junk in the blower is always a concern but no worries on maf

Well I should've mentioned I ordered Green filters.

You're just a troll, get out of my thread. LOLOLOLOLOL

And what difference does it make, that paper filters don't use oil, yet this pos K&N does.

Nothing exciting now, hopeful future E55/63 owner!
Good call my man! Those K&N's use cotton as the filter media. They don't filter correctly UNLESS they are oiled. So you wouldn't want to run them without oil. I wouldn't be worried about the oil anyway......if you just follow the directions, you'll be good to go.

On my trucks Air Raid and the E's BMC's, I oil them then smack them against something a few times to get any loose oil to either soak in or fall off. Then I wipe them down with a microfiber cloth. Still well oiled but no loose droplets to gum up my electronic throttle on the truck (what a joke) or my MAF's on the benzo...

The car is now popping on decel more than before the charcoal filters and it sounds nasty, video in the morning, or it could just be that dirty filter.
