Sorry but have to drop out of the mile!

As many of you know, I have been working really hard to make this race and that also meant raising the bar on new power technologies.

The heads and 185mm combo and other mods have been really good and strong mods. Going to a 200mm is a new level and trying new anti knock fuels like E85 and VP 109 highly oxygenated race gas have been new challenges.

I was finally able to do a couple hours of road tunning with Jerry @ EC and then drove the 120 miles to re-test the latest flashes. First before the dyno test , we spent a few hours increasing fuel lines to 8an as extra insurance. I drove slow the 120 miles to the dyno and the car went into a throttle body limp mode at about 90 miles. Did a re-set and all seemed fine.

Based on the dyno`s, I feel that there is more tunning work that would need to be figured out or desinged to compete at this level . Second, on the first pull, we saw some oil blow out the dip stick, so we aborted testing and parked car until everything can be tested and or fixed. Car runs and drives ok and no aparent noise but does seem to have some blow by. Again, there is spike in the AFR, that does not seem to be able to be tuned out.

Will keep everyone posted but at this point, no way it is sae enough to run the car. Sorry, as I am very dissapointed and have worked night and day to make this mile. At least 7-10 new technologies and mods into this car and was basically all ready to go.

It's better to take it easy than to go all out, break it trying to get to 190ish and not even go the speed you wanted in the mile because it broke. Their is always next year.

Thus the path often with mods and cars. I understand and appreciate your frustration;all of the hard work along with the sweat, enthusiasm, and now this. But....fact remains you are determined and will get the beast up to snuff for the next run.

Best of luck and I look forward to the final results.

Brooke - SORRY TO HEAR about this - you guys are basically the R&D department for many of the mods that eventually make it to us. Your hard work and dedication are GREATLY appreciated. As others have said - keep your chin up - we'll all be pulling for you in March!!!!!!!!!

Had-law shot this video of the only dyno run Saturday. BTW, he used his new Iphone4s. see below.

I want to thank Hadi and Shardul for dropping what they were doing Saturday afternoon and driving 120 miles to bring me a new Valve cover. True Friends! 98 Aggie as well for all his help , dyno use and shop use! I bet I have made 30 pulls and drove to his place another 8-10 times since July 29th. Yes, I cracked a cover just as I was connecting the new larger fuel line to the rail. Damn thing broke like it was made of glass. After putting the new cover on and getting on the dyno, Hadi and Shardul came to the rescue again, as they drove me 120 miles home, as I left my car at 98Aggie`s shop, until I get over the kick in the nuts and can test everything.

Again real sorry the car can`t make the run, but it will be back safe and fast soon! I will start posting all the custom mods and new mods soon that went into this build since July 29th. Was little short ont he power to run 190 mph but had also worked very hard on drag , weight and most of all how negative and positive pressure could be used to help cut through the wind drag. At the end of the day, weight is not the problem for the mile, your wind drag or drag C becomes your weight. I was anxious to test all these changes, as I think they could have made up for the extra power needed.

Video says it was uploaded from an Android phone, and is 240p terrible quality so hope that wasn't from a new iphone 4s some how after talking about how awesome the camera should be.

No problem Brooke. Glad we made it back! As for the video, it lost it's quality once Brooke uploaded it from his phone.

Latest report so far from 98Aggie; plugs have been pulled and checked. Nothing major on any of the plugs but one pair was lighter in color than the rest. Again, nothing that jumped out. A boroscope was used and nothing jumped out on that either but the scope was hard to manipulate around. Also did not roll engine over to leak harder, just a quick inspection. Next is a leak-down, once I can get a leakdown tester. Just have compression tester but we know that is not a prefect test. Car still made 600 hp on that pull and TQ was only down a tad.

I am sure, me and Shardul will be doing a DYI engine take out in the near future. Kurt always helps out too! Better to go through things and know all is good. I hear these motors can come out in about 1.5 hours. Add more time for LT`s and ABC stuff though.

Hey Hadi, load that vid with your BA 4s, if it works so great! Do it!

LOL, I was at the MB dealer window shopping today. Two 2012 TT E class but no CLS at the place I stopped at. I need another car, as the CL was a daily driver.

Not my color either.

Need this one back! The power is funtastic!

Your worst nightmare...
Brooke, don't stress buddy! If you will do your mark you will do it in your time. It's better to do it right, than regretting something later. Look at me for example, I have had this EV12 running for 6+ months, but no track time whatsoever. When I do go I will leave nothing on the table and make sure there are no excuses. Best of luck and hope to see you at the next mile.
