Stock rebuild questions

Lets say someone had an e55 and deep pockets decided to overhaul his AMG. I mean new interior, alcantara, carpet, steering wheel, everything insid the car from light bulbs to window switches. Then everything outside like paint job, tires rims, shocks, new panels if some were dented, even mirrors. Then a basic rebuild of the engine, like new pistons, crank, cams, gaskets and sensors. Basicly, what would it cost approximately to return this car to stock condition?

From everything you mentioned, I'd say more then a new car would cost.

That is the dumbest question. Its not a 67 Camaro, just get the new 63 and call it a day. If your pockets (or your dads) were that big, we wouldnt be having this conversation.

I'm saying to restore it to keep it for a while, as an investment. (with no plan to sell)

One thing you may want to know is cars are not investments. Especially a 2003 E55.

In fact cars are money pits! You'd never get a fraction back out of it by the time you were done.

Like a said though, no plan to sell. Reason is, alcnatara is a bit aged and wish it would look like under the small visor. Seats wrinkled, carpet is a bit stiff, just aging. Also, I have a huge sentimental value to my e55 and never plan to let it go. Paid off, and runs strong still, even after being almost 9 years old.

Well there you have it. You have gotten emotionally attached to a money pit. First lesson kid, dont get attached to a car, especailly a Mercedes E class. Maybe a Ferrari Dino or some crazy car like that, but a E class with a supercharger . I realize your dad bought it new, but let it go homey.

Maybe it's just me but this car, even for being as old as it is, still surpasses most everyday cars in my area for speed luxury and even looks. Only car I've seen here with more power is a buil chevy nova. And maybe I'm getting delusional but everytime I hammer the gas after washing it and getting it super clean, it's almost like the car and driver become one. The car almost reads my mind. Lol or maybe it's that adaptive trans.. But this car is just surreal to own at 17. Even though the upkeep andrepair costs are astronomical, there's nothing like wrenching on a car you drive. It's almost a trust thing but it is just a car in the end.

Your digging a deeper hole for yourself, quit while you are ahead, although you are not that far ahead now that I think about it.

From what I'm reading I'm thinking it'd be a better deal to mod the hell out of it, drive it, sell it, buy a TTE63 used in a few years before the E55 costs me an arm and a leg (whether it be literally losing an arm/leg or a lot of money)
