How are the brakes on the E55 AMG?

I've test driven a few E55 now and I'm curious about the brakes. I drive an E320 myself and have test driven some C63 as well. But the E55 brakes always feel pretty weird, like you have to press them harder than the other cars. I'm sure they grab well at higher speeds but it feels odd to have to press the pedal this far at lower speeds as well.

Is this normal, or have all the 55s I've looked at have bad brakes?

Haters crazy
Next time push as hard as you can on the brake pedal and see if your intestines come out of your mouth...

The issue is that they are electronic...they feel weird because what you are pressing is just a spring that makes them feel like "normal" brakes. It's synthetic.

They don't feel any different to me. Was this on more than one E55? Perhaps that one had issues.

SBC, fly by wire, they are electronic brakes.
One of the most advanced braking systems ever, to a fault.
Search SBC for more information, here is a YouTube that gives a quick description of SBC but it dose much more.

Hated SBC the times I drove a car with it. I much prefer a directly connected brake.

Be aware that Mercedes used SBC (Sensotronic Brake Control) which uses electric impulses to pass the driver’s braking commands to a microcomputer which processes various sensor signals simultaneously and, depending on the particular driving situation, calculates the optimum brake pressure for each wheel. Some people have complained that these brakes offer very little to no feedback to the driver. But it was a Mercedes first!

Put new pads on them and you'll love them. 8 (I believe?) piston up front rock!

I wonder if the 8 pot calipers offer greater clamping force then the 6 pot calipers?
I know the piston on the 6 pot calipers are larger then the 8 piston calipers ?

Any comments

Are your 6 pots the factory P030 set-up? What size are the discs?
