2005 Pontiac GTO with "powerchip"?

Some kid I know is betting he can beat my stock 2003 E55 with a 2005 Pontiac GTO with 400 hp and 400 tq. He also has an acclaimed 75 hp "powerchip". I know from personal experience a stock GTO is nothing to be afraid of but are there chips capable of 75 hp on a GTO and would it beat me?

if all he has is a powerchip, make sure to take all of his allowance in that bet after you spank him.

75hp on a n/a car from a chip eh? That's going to put nitrous companies out of business...

Tear him up and detail the kill for us.

maybe a tune is what he got, and that, at best, nets him 20 to 30hp gain

before you race him, lose any extra weight (ex. spare wheel, rear seat, and the cover below the engine that is a little bit heavy) that would give a little bit of advantage on stock.

One more thing, avoid revving your car while stationary or staying on rolling on same speed for long in order to get the 3 horns sign because that will increase your IAT which will mean decreasing your power Also, make sure your HE and radiator are well clean to make sure heat dissipate efficiently which will lower your IAT.

Last thing, you better get K&N or BMC air filters even if you are stock better breathing for your car regardless of the purpose of this thread. Trust me, GTO / Lumina SS with only tune, can not beat you even in your worst days

I think that year is a LS2 motor. EVen with a chip and a strong tune you should yank him by at least 4-5 cars from 40-140. Those motors can be nasty with a decent set of heads a cam and the bottle. But with only a chip I would bet him any amount of money because you cant lose!

Not one GTO (even the one with painted flames on it's hood) broke out of the 13's at the track I was at last night. The flame one ran a 14.x.

After actually taking my car to a track, I have a new found respect for it once again. :-)

There is NO WAY a stock GTO would even get close to a stock 55 from a roll let alone from a dig. The kid is trash talking, tell him to put his money where his mouth is and race you. Make sure to look under the hood and see if it's not actually a blown stroker. Powerchip at 75hp? ....that's about as likely as my stock car running 7s on street tires

Watch for trunk shot before betting too much cash. Punks like that are shooting insane amounts of NOS not caring what it will do to stock internals.

You should tell him the trunk space in the 55 just sucks. "Can I just see the size of yours to compare?"

Sneaky Petes won't do crap for that car so if he's 250 shooting it, the trunk will give it right away.

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
Everyone wants to play with Kobe, even though they know they will get backhanded in the process; go ahead and impress the GTO kid.

none of this is necessary against a stock + tune Goat, just meet, run and win your dinero. Ive raced modded ones (off bottle) and pulled cars on them.

everything
Powerchip Inc hasn't tuned any GTO's so he really means he has a performance chip installed

I don't think 75hp over stock is possible, but 40hp isn't out of the question if he has a great tune and and the car has headers

I sold my 06 gto with the same ls2. My best was 13.02 with DRs. There is no way he can take you even with a tune and headers.

I shot him a $500 bet for a 1/4 mile on a closed road. He laughed and said he'd race but only for $100. Aiming for next Friday, I'll try and get my custom film setup on the car and ilyk! Camera setup is 2 jvc 1080p everio camcorders. I put on on the front hole on the roof for the bike rack facing forward and one in the car facing out the back windshield.

I ran a GTO I thought was stock until he opened his cutouts. We were dead even from 60-140+. Turned out to be a 408 stroker motor, running 11.5-11.6 consistently at HRP [a very fast track]

Can't wait for the result. Hope he's not lying to you about having just the tune. Ask to see his bay before the race. If there isn't aluminum covers on the headers, he's done headers/exhaust work.

Like I said in above post, "CLOSED ROAD". It is about a half mile long service road that is no longer used and closed.

Forgot to mention, have K&Ns and just used a rechage kit on them yesterday followed by an ecu reset (unplugged battery overnight) and oh man was it a monster. Best part is I forgot to reset ESP and roasted my tires for a good 5 seconds then got the ESP malfunction light. All good now though.

from a tune I would think that 25 hp is about max.
