Airmatic Question???

Hey guys, just have a quick question on my car. I've noticed since I bought my car that sometimes when my car sits over night or for a descent amount of time, the rear suspension sags. As soon as I unlock the car the sensor picks up that its low and lifts back up. Is this normal or do I have a leak somewhere

Has anybody else had this problem or heard of this?
Thanks in advance.

Ok I haven't had the car long so didn't know if it was normal or not. I really noticed today after work since I've lowered my car already. It was tucking tire in the rear pretty well.

I mean if its doing that only after a day of sitting you may have an issue.. Mine does it when I leave it in the garage for about a week or so at a time.. Or especially in the cold weather it does it.. As long as it goes back up to the normal height when you start it then I would say everythings fine..

it's the early sign of an air spring failure. it can over work your air compressor as well as cause premature tire wear, even if it appears to raise back to normal height as soon as you open the door. just replace it as soon as you can to avoid getting stranded.

+1. If your car has to pump up every morning, you have a problem.

get that checked out to avoid it being slammed one day and can't drive it to the shop for repairs.

OK I will get it checked out today perhaps. I'm getting an alignment at the dealer anyway. I wonder if my extended warranty would cover that?

This is a normal function of the air suspension.

Well that sucks if its normal. It just looks awful being so dumped in the back after just sitting over night.

It's NOT normal for it to happen over night. You have a leak somewhere.

My car does it if I leave it off for a week or two...but not over night.

There is a test that is done with STAR that measures recovery time and pressure for the air pump and air tank. To find a leak in the lines and junctions go old school, soap and water in a spray bottle.
And a lift that keeps the weight of the car on the wheels is a good idea too, when looking for a leak.

It is normal for the suspension to drop a little bit, but not to for it to be slammed. if it is slammed then your right there is a leak in the system, typically its the rear airspring that went bad, but the system needs to be fully checked out by a tech using Star.

yes, you have a leak...and i wouldn't bother getting an alignment until you get that fixed.
