tell me about the panamera turbo
outside of quoting magazines, what's it doing in the real world? ie...1/4mile, what's available in the tuning aftermarket, etc? and to keep this amg related how do you guys think it compares to the new amg tt v8's?

Re: Panamera Turbo
If one can get past the styling, which I personally can't, I'm sure it is a very nice driving machine. I've heard that the tranny has created limits on what can be done mod wise, but I'd look into that further before buying if you want one. I've also heard that some styling "updates" are coming, no idea what and when though.
Local dealer has had the same one on disply inside a shopping mall since July, clearly there is no rush to buy in my area.

i can totally understand why people think they're ugly, i thought that too until i saw my first turbo in person. at this point, i'm only interested in real world performance discussion because i can't find anything except magazine data...forums are lacking and there's nothing on dragtimes.

I love the 4 racing seats inside and that's about it. That's one of those cars that it doesn't matter how quick or fast I just can't get past that rear end. Well if I guess if you tell people to only look at it from the from or from an angle from the front then

Had an opportunity to drive a turbo and I can say, controversial styling aside ( I actually like it its combination of raw power, handling and interior quality is second to none in my mind. A true four door sports car.
That said the only thing I need to know is it costs $160k/conversation.

Spend enough time around a Panamera and you'll see the genius in it. Drive one and you'll understand the limitations and strengths of our car better.

There are now a bunch of your normal Porsche tuners out there with tuning and exhaust upgrades...including Switzer... AWE/GIAC...Techart...etc.
Here is some interesting data from a 6speed member who is running a tune:
http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/p...150-video.html
A thing to note on his standing start acceleration data...is that it doesn't look like he factored in a 1 foot rollout...which would likely knock down his 0-XXX times by about .25s.
Also, my old tuned CL65 did a best 8.45s 60-130mph...so this tuned Panamera Turbo S would smoke it up top. The tune makes a HUGE difference.
It will take drag radials to even approach those #'s with the new AMG V8 TT's.

As mentioned, from a dig I dont see any 4 door car coming close to the Pan in a 0-60 run. But the AWD and weight of the car does bring it back to life as it reaches triple digit speeds. I do believe it would lose to an F10 M5 in a rolling race up to higher speeds.
The looks are very subjective and its more of a love it or hate look but to me the car looks much better in person and has grown on me.

Kind of a like a moped maybe.... fun to ride but dont let anyone see you on it?
I actually really love the look of the Pan as its driven down the road... it always catches my eye and if you slap a set of 22's on it its even better looking. I just love Porsche in general but Im biased. I was looking at a Pan Turbo S but went with the CLS63 TT instead... easier tunable platform with similar performance and marginally cheaper... (50k)
