So I noticed a few weeks ago that my heater doesn't blow hot air out of the vents any more. I tried to turn the heaters on and I get nothing but cold air blowing out from the front and rear passenger vents. I searched the forum and it sounds like it could be the heater control valve but am not 100% sure. Figured I would ask for advice before I order the part. Am I missing something obvious???

It's probably the heater control valve. I was told it is a common issue when I had mine replaced under warranty last year. https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...rol-valve.html

The same thing happened to me and many others. It's very likely the heater control valve. I believe I ordered it online and paind something less than sixty bucks. Install isn't too difficult, but it is in a tight space. I think someone wrote up a DIY a while back.

Ok so I was gonna order this part from (Mb parts warehouse .com) and noticed thy have 2 models. One says it's for cars with code 228, and the other is for ones without code 228. How do I know which I need to get.

Closest I could come up with is, code 228 on the w210 platform represents having an auxiliary heater. Most likely the same for our platform.
