Old vs. New SL65 Rims
I've always loved the multi-pice titanium silver SL65 rims and was rolling with them until today:
I recently snagged a lightly used set of genuine AMG newer style forged performance package SL65 rims and mounted them up this afternoon:
What I know so far is that they're about 3 to 4 lbs. lighter weight per wheel than the old school rims due to being forged, they were forged in Germany and and are virtually devoid of any lateral or radial runout, and they balanced up exceptionally well. Plus, they display my Brembo GT BBKs more prominently as a result of their more open design. Because they're a bit more chiseled appearing than the older rim style, I need a bit of getting used to the design, but I think they're a nice update for the appearance of the car. But what scares me is their cost if I ever need to buy a replacement. These are among the most expensive AMG wheels (new retail price) ever sold by MB. Fortunately, I didn't have to pay "new" prices for this set.
So thumbs up or down on these?

There's just something about those older boat anchor ones, that get's the blood pumping to my nether region.
