E63 Front Rotor Replacement - Racingbrake
Hi everyone,
So I finally got around to replacing my front rotors on my 07 E63 and after a long search decided to go with the Racingbrake front rotors:
http://www.racingbrake.com/Two_piece...141-381-02.htm
I searched around on the web and found the best price on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/RacingBrake-21...2098741&sr=8-3
$1076 for the pair.. at my door in 2 days (no tax, free shipping)
I have had them on for over a week and they are great... Excellent quality, look great and stop great with OEM pads... Also fairly light... 24ish pounds.... Great all around at an amazing price...
Highly recommend them!

Thanks for the heads up. The price for a standard front brake job on the 63 is murder. If possible, please provide an update if anything negative occurs after you've put on several thousand miles.

Evosport front rotors: $1450.00
California Tax (7.75%): $112.00 (I live in San Diego)
Shipping : $30.00 ??
Total: $1592 ish
Compared to Racingbrake rotors purchased via Amazon ($1078.00 delivered) that is a $500 difference.

1. Harder grey iron material supporting a more aggressive brake pad material (if desired).
2. Vented slots rather than cross drilled. In true track applications, cross drilled can lead to stress cracks and the need to replace the rotors.
3. Cost.

Evosport has beautiful and lightweight rotors but to break down the price:

I can't tell you about Evo's actual rotor material, but I had them cross-drilled and slotted which reduces the weight a bit more.
Interestingly, and FWIW, both Racing Brake and Evo do not recommend ceramic pads. Now, at my own risk, I've been using EBC reds (I really notice the difference) and I have had to really jump on the binders at over 130 MPH many times with no ill effect. Also, I've literally cruised around the Nordschleife a few times (don't know the course very well to get aggressive and yes my calipers are still silver) and again no problems.

As I said Evo has 'em for the 55, but I don't see them offered by Racing Brake. Also, if you ask, Evo from time to time, has been known to offer a discount. I know, I have 'em on the front and rear. Since I do not live in CA, the tax was not an issue.

That being said, I know a couple people going full RB front and rear. If you are looking for 2 piece Racing Brake rear rotors, they are in the C63 section of their website. Both great products and congrats to anyone who has either on.
I run stock pads, because I've been on track in 104 ambient and experienced minimal fade at the end of a 20 minute session. Pretty good pieces minus the dust puke
Great price find too by the way

I have no complaints on the Evosport/Rotora rotors either. They look great and are more functional than stock since the drill holes are wider and are not as susceptible to clogging with brake dust.

I had 52,000 miles on the original set of front rotors. I was advised (by the MB tech) to just change out the pads on the rears but the rotors look a bit worn and will have to be replaced after this set of pads. The real weight savings is on the rear E63 rotors since they are one piece and very heavy.
