Value of Higher Mileage E55
Hi all,
Selling my E55 here:

Not getting much traction by serious buyers here on the forum and I am a little puzzled. Considering the car's history, what is your guys' honest opinion on my pricepoint?
I actually have it priced 1,500 higher on craigslist and autotrader and am getting much more attention there than here. Only thing that sucks is most are younger guys that don't have cash & run into financing problems. I would really like to car to go to a mature person from the forum that knows about, and can appreciate the car.

I think that price is fair... I'm sure what scares people away is the miles over 100k... that seems to be a breaking point for many people, regardless of the maintenance and service history or type of car.

Theres just not a huge market for these cars.. Sure they are cheap and you can get a lot of car for the price, but the maintenance and guzzling of gas is not very appealing to a lot of others. Its priced fairly, when you find a serious buyer im sure they will buy it.

As other mentioned, not the price. I think its the market, you need to be patient to find the right buyer. Did u post in craiglist and autotrader ? they are very useful.

+1. Price is good, but high mileage scares people. Nobody wants to pay for costly repairs down the road...

Oh, so u already posted in different places with $1k higher. A lot of people comes to the forum search for "special deal" so a lot of low baller. I believe one guy in the WTB section asking W211 E55 for $12k ....... cheap cheap cheap.... those guys who has no money to buy will end up with no money for repairs. Be patient some times takes time to find the right buyer and most of people still need to finance so.....

Thanks for the input, and glad to see I'm right where I should be. Personally, I hope the lowballers find a cheap E55 that wasn't maintained. That way they we will completely screwed when everything goes wrong!!

I just purchased from a private seller in the bay area, an 03 with 85k... great car with excellent service record. I saw your posting whille searching but had to pass even though I think its in the right pricepoint, biggest financing issue for us young guys is the +100k mileage... usually the deal breaker most banks. I know in my case it was why i had to unfortunately pass when I saw it. Your car is the most competively priced e55 in the northern cali and for those financing the 1k drop will do little to help qualify. You will find the right cash buyer soon.

Have you given any thought to keeping it for weekends and special occasions? It is still an amazing piece of technology and even if you replaced it with a Porsche Panamera TT for $140K+, is it really that much better?

One more thing is the fact that the cats are removed. When its sold, it needs to be smogged, so thats another issue.

Good points, 03 is the first year so 100k miles plus people get more concern. Plus, not many people willing to pay whole cash.

Really the next buyer is going to have to be smart in purchasing an E55 with all the problem areas freshly replaced, vs ones at 80-90k where they are coming to the end of their life cycle. All I wanted to verify was that my price is right which per you guys, it is. Cat’s really aren’t an issue in my eyes, as those can be put back on if the buyer really wants them. Most of the younger guys looking at the car said they want to keep them off and have ample places that will smog the car as-is for them.
