Trying to Organize a TTM Scoops & Python Tubes Group Buy - Anyone Interested?

Peeps,

I spoke to Bruce at TTM and he said he's thinking about making another run of the TTM air scoops for the E55, so I figured I'd help him along via a post here trying to see how many buyers we can find for him in order to make a run of 25 sets (50 scoops in total) worth his while.

So I'll start, Bruce, I'll buy 1 pair of TTM scoops along with the Python tubes.

Anyone else interested? If you have no idea what I'm talking about just do a search and you'll see. Folks that have these now have reported great results.

Thanks.

Alex

I would be in for a set of scoops as long as they were reasonable priced..

Good luck on getting a GB on the python tubes, we tried a month or so ago and carbonio was completely out of stock.. python tubes are around $600 normally.

I'd be interested to know what sort of pricing / discount is available with this GB.... hard to know how interested I'd be without that critical piece of information.

Slightly OT: I would sure love it if a manufacturer would offer items like the modified airbox or python-style tubes in a material other than carbon fiber. Personally, I think CF "played itself out" a several years ago and it always comes at a stupid-high price premium anyway. If these same items in a simple plastic or fiberglass (at a much lower price point) I'm sure they'd sell like mad.... I'll gladly take the 1 - 2 Lb weight penalty of a heavier material for a dramatic reduction in cost.

Thanks everyone for helping me generating the interest. I'm sure Bruce or somebody from TTM will reply soon. I had been PM'ing Bruce on this.

For Python Tubes the normal price is $600, but my thoughts around this thread would be to set up 3 groups buys in order to get better pricing for all of us on the 3 options:

A. TTM Scoops only
B. Python tubes only
C. Both

Basicaly set up a volume buy for TTM allowing him to build the scoops with buyers lined up (so no risk for him) and passing along a cost savings to us.

I'm in line for option C.

Thanks again for helping me/us out here.

Need pricing to confirm, but in for scoops. I don't get why he doesn't make them anymore. Seemed to be a huge it when they were out. Guessing even more would be interested if the price wasn't so high either.

Still seems like a lot to me. For $200 I think that would generate a lot more interest. Anything more than that and ill spend $50 on materials and a few hours of my time and build then myself.

If we get enough buyers lined up, hopefully he'll be good with a $200 buy in for the scoops. $200 x 25 = $5,000! To have that in hand before you even go to manufacturing is a good thing.

PM'ing Bruce at TTM now to see if he can post/repond on this thread.

Thanks again guys.

Thanks for your help here guys. My approach here is to set up 3 groups busy as noted below. When I spoke to Bruce he was completely out of the Scoops and was debating whether or not to do another manufacturing run. My goal here is to help him do this, pre-sell his stock before it's built along with getting us all a better price on option A, B or C.

Thanks again, waiting for his response, PM'd him a few minutes ago.

A. TTM Scoops only
B. Python tubes only
C. Both

Totally in for the scoops - honestly, I'd be in if he brought em back at his original list price. . .

I don't understand why people are *****ing about 50 dollars. . .If they were so cheap to make, then there would have been ton's of knockoffs and many DIY manufacturing their own. . .

*****ing about the price of a Renntech ELM vs Marcus; or a Renntech Airbox v a Carbonio airbox - totally get. . .the scoops. . .not so much.

I'm just pissed at myself for not jumping on them when I had a chance originally.

In for the GB on the scoops - 200.00 - 300.00 - don't care.

Red, for me, please.

Thanks everyone, I'll try calling Bruce as well. We have at least 12 buyers interested in the scoops alone!

Appreciate the quick response.

Excellent Idea! I like the whole carbon fiber look, but in all reality its really a rape fest when compare to traditional materials such as plastic or whatever else. To expand, I think having them made from plastic or some other material then dipped in carbon fiber overlay would be an excellent idea for a cheap alternative with the performance still intact!

What do you guys think??

Whatever we're tuning!
My appreciation to all interested especially Alex!

To all on MB World!

Looks like there might be another run of TTM Intake Scoops being done............maybe!

Here is where we are at:

I sent my last set of scoops to a composite manufacturer, who will remain anonymous, to do a feasibility study/cost analysis to make molds and manufacturer them in FRP so I could use the existing design and make the necessary changes for other models and manufacturers besides MB. Making them in CF would have been too costly(especially since the balking that I experienced with some MB World members who questioned the price and what went into developing them. I actually had a member offer to buy them from me for $150 after I told him they were $300/pair ).

When I got the initial cost analysis, the quote was for having them manufactured in CF(I told the project coordinator in the beginning that CF is out of the question because of the high cost associated with that process) I was flabbergasted. Now I do a ton of business with this company and I was so pissed that I was going to call the owner, tell him to return the set that I sent him and proceed to tell him to GO *** HIMSELF! People that know me know that I am a man of my word and I ALWAYS call a SPADE a SPADE!! So I let myself cool down and didn't do anything too hasty.

Now here we are today. I guess I have some decisions to make but THANK YOU to all who are interested(even the CHEAP ****'s)!

My plate is extremely full with a couple of large builds from out of state, track days and the holiday season so this might take a couple of weeks to get going but I am committed to making this happen.
