Just ordered Kleemann headers w primaries deleted...expectations?

I just placed an order for the Kleemann headers special and I'm getting the downpipes etc. (deleting primaries).

I hear this add a good amount of torque.

What can I expect power wise? Driveability? Will these headers along w a Kleemann ECU tune add a few mph to my 1/4? Drop a couple tenths?

Also, I was hesitant to get their 168 pulley. It seems like traction is a MAJOR problem once you get the pulley as well. Just wondering what you guys think...I DD my car and when I romp on it, I want to be able to use the power and not just spin. Having said that, I do a lot of freeway driving...where I'm sure any pulley would be amazing.

Thanks for any input

you'll notice the headers more up top than down low. . .I'm actually convinced that headers without the pulley are better for launching; as far as power expectations - couldn't tell you but going from a tune only to headers and tune - dropped .4 from my 1/4 and added 4mph (all of my cats are gone - however I would suggest keeping your secondaries, see how you like the sound and performance and then consider getting an X-pipe. I personally don't think you need anything more than a 168 unless you're looking for numbers or records. I also think that a 168, headers and tune with upgraded cooling is the ultimate performance "bang for your buck" with this platform. . .not too much stress, not too many dollars, incredible and proven gains. As far as traction with pulley, headers and tune - it will be an issue - especially if you live in an area with cold temps and depending on what tires you have (I actually went slower with a pulley than with headers as a result of traction - once I was able to put DR's on it - TOTALLY DIFFERENT STORY - pulley also dropped an additional .4 and added about 3 mph - I'll find out what the upgraded cooling does next Friday).

Thanks for the post.

My hesitation stems from the fact that I will never run the 1/4 mile and therefore never have DRs, so I'm on the fence because traction issues will slow you down quite a bite (as in your case).

But I hear the 168 from a 30-40 roll is outrageous, even with regular street tires (I have PS2s BTW).

Do you have traction from a 30/40 punch?

.4 and 4mph is a big jump from stock!

This has been bothering me for awhile too. I live in NY with a mix of temps. My car had brand new Nitto 555R's in stock size when I bought it, and under any conditions they are useless below 20mph. (stock engine wise besides upgraded IC pump since stock was dying) I just bought PLM H/E, and CLS wheels with 275/30 NT05 for rear. I'm waiting to see how much traction improves with this setup.
From there I will either go with a 172 pulley/tune, or shorties/primary deletes/tune. Long tubes would be nice but I've dealt with the CEL/NYS inspection issues before. No thanks.
I'm sure in the end I will end up with all of that plus some.

You will be happy with them.. A lot of guys are running them with very good results. Just wondering, buy why are you so concerned with drops in 1/4 mile times and gaining mph if you say your never going to do the 1/4 mile??? Seems a i bit odd.. Anyways, after all ive read on here, seems as though anything over 168 on the street is just overkill.

Same here, got my kleeman + IC pump + EC tune. I don't plan to do any more power unless the supercharge pulley come out. Plus, with K header and EC tune will be more than enough for me. I don't plan to go drag race. Might get a set wider tires.

Anybody who installed the Kleeman header got any code ? engine light ?

Yea, I would suggest getting a tune done when doing headers.. Or you run the risk of a bad afr

EC would have a free reflash for him to address that, I'd guess.

I would of gone 168 pulley and kleemann tune if you just wanted a fast safe DD,the headers are going to be a ***** to install and will run you about 600-700 in labor to get them on.

From when I had mine installed I think Im the only one who felt they lost power up untill 5k and anything under 2200 rpms felt really bad.

after going to a 178 pulley and tuning the torque came back hard but its still really low before 2100 rpms and then it makes a big hump going from 2200-3400 and holds it nice all the way to redline.

get the headers intalled and have a tune put on it that will support a pulley for when you want to add more power down the road and then get an LSD and be done with it.

Im really curious to see how the car feels with stock pulley and tuning because Im debating going back to stock boost or finding a 168 pulley.

If you could dyno your car now and after would be so clutch for others to see real world gains not from a tuners friend or tuner claiming xxx hp

Yes as long as he gets a tune to address it it will be fine

Saw the same thing after I got my Long tubes installed.
Feels like there is a dead spot until the revs hit 2K.
There's tons of power/torque after that, but I hate that dead feeling when you are driving slowly around say a parking lot.
If you blip the throttle just a little bit too much, the SC engages and you get the harsh engagment. So the car feels like *** under 2K, especially when its cold.
The big rewards come after 2K though... gotta love that power and sound.

Kinda wish I had gone with Shorties, pulley and tune for my DD and left the cats in place.
