Well... didn't quite work lol but always wondered what it would look like on the e55! No fair, we can't run stupid low offsets ![Frown](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Although tons of room in the wheel well, and about 1.25" gap from spoke to the brake caliper... 20x11 could definitely work, but maybe a ET33? I know a member is running ET31 but looks like it would rub a lot...
305/25 tire... 20x11 ET28 (I think) sticks out about 1.5" ish

Maybe there's enough "meat" on the hub area to machine the mating surface down??
That particular wheel/offset is probably a "no-go" since you seem to indicate that it's 1.5" out of the wheelwell and there's only 1.25" of clearance around the caliper. I would never trust a wheel that had THAT much material machined off the hub either.
However, a wheel that started off a little closer to the target offset could probably be "cheated" inboard by 10 - 15mm with accurate CNC machining. It would take a lot of guts to throw an expensive set of wheels into a cutting machine to find out though!

FBO 2005 E55 w/ LSD
stretch the tires a little bit, dial in some camber, and slam the **** out of it. There will be a smaller contact patch on the ground so it wouldnt be as 'performance' oriented, but it'd look hard!
Sorry im reviving all kinds of old threads tonight.

How wide can you go on these with little to no fender work? It seems most tend to run 275's while ive seen a few run 285's. It'd be nice and mean to be able to shove a 305 in the back of an E55. I know sizes fluctuate to an extent between brands, but who has fender work and fat meats on the back of their MB?

Assuming you want a nice sticky street tire like the Michelin PSS, the only size they've got is a 305/30-19. That ends up almost a full 1" taller than the stock 18" tire. (roughly 26.2" diameter)
It should be possible to balance that out with a taller front tire too, and the sidewall heights are almost identical to stock 18s, so you should still have reasonable luck keeping wheels from bending on potholes, etc.
I'd love to see a set of steamroller-wide tires tucked under the stock rear fenders of an E55, but my guess is that I'll only ever see it in Photoshop!

oh me too, I could have cared less about 'fitment' before on the vette we rolled the fenders a little just so I could stuff 315's back there, slammed it and she had no problem hooking up. Its only been recently that 'fitment' has caught my attention. The veedub guys do it best while some simply 'overkill' it.

IF you want it wide with alot of lip Its not going to work without fender work. I've tried a ton of combinations and alot of tire stretch and alot of camber still isnt enough. Here is my car i built for our SEMA booth. I wanted subtle flares so people couldnt tell unless you have a shrp eye.
20x10 front and 20x12 rear 20 offset
Photo doesnt do justice but the rear lip is 6"

Some shots during the build. Notice the the fender work.

BTW its a E550 and not an AMG. Please dont flame just here to give some advise.
