Wow look at this pissing contest going on in here. Did we ever get a real price estimate?
5K - I'll buy right now
8500 - Meh.. I'll think about it
10K - You're out of your god damn mind
A Whipple 2.3L Twin Screw is 2200 dollars, Add a few hundred for a snout, a new machined intake manifold another 500-1K and you get around 4K unless i'm missing something. 5K-6K would make this upgrade worthwhile, 8500 is just them ripping us off and 10K is an absolute joke. This car isn't in production anymore so why would you expect me to spend THAT MUCH on an upgrade for it?

If it looks anything like their kit for the SLS it would be sick, sorta like hadi's intake.

So all the bolt-ons for this car bring it to what 650-700hp crank?
Cost:7.5-10k
Wiestec Blower= Remove OLD S/C. HP drops to 354.
Now this 2.9L blower will need to add how much boost to get 650-700hp?
Nearly 100% increase from a S/C with stock internals? 300hp-350 hp from this blower? Weistec 2.1 on the 6.3 is adding 121 hp. So how is it going to Jump from 121 hp to 300-350hp with a 3.0L displacement..in stock form
Cost:10K+
The only viable combination is bolt on's with the new S/C.
It's def a cool MOD, but a cool mod on an N/A car. Who's going to remove a perfectly working S/C.. On that note I wonder if this fits a CLK55(w208) or the E55(W210)..

Any ideas on the CFM difference between the stock E55 Blower and the 2.9L twin screw?
I would and a lot of people do when it comes to supercharged vehicles. Take a walk over to the Mustang forums. Going to a bigger supercharger is a very popular upgrade.

The 03 cobra's cost like 5k and there are hundreds of shops who do this.
My cousin is throwing a Whipple 2.9 on his Cherokee and the cost is like 2.5k.
His total cost with the car must be like under 6k.

You can't just slap on a massive bower and have power that easily. You need the rest of the system to support it as well. Like headers, higher flowing cats or car delete, a better flowing muffler. A fuel system, bigger fuel rail, s better pressure regulator (adjustable?) bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump. Your still gonna need a tune for it. Your still gonna need a bigger throttle body if it doesn't come with one. You'll need a higher flowing intake tract and bigger filters. A colder spark plug. Will the stock ignition coils be able to fire this new setup properly? Lots more. I haven't even touche don the drivetrain aspects. There's a lot more to do to get this motor in the ~700HP+ range and running safely and reliably then slipping a giant blower under the hood.
How much is included in the kit? I'm sure some of what I mentioned is, but much probably won't be. The blower will come out and add maybe 150HP over stock for say $10,000. There will be extra cost options to push it even further though. You won't be getting a turn key race car that's reliable as the basic setup.
There will still be bolt ons needed to support this new blower and let it shine and its gonna get expensive.
also theoretically you double an engines HP when you apply 1 Bar to the intake aka 14.7PSI. The stock blower pushes around 11.5 when you lean on it from what I have seen. The new blower should be good for somewhere in the teens or around 20 or so PSI on the same engine. The power potential should far surpass the drivetrain and stock bottom end of the motor in my opinion. Again, you will have to dump money to make the rest of the system work with it at this level. Big money on an AMG car. It's going to become not how fast you want to go, its gonna be how fast do you want to spend.

Just a reminder...this is how the thread started...
"Hey guys, we want to let everyone know the progress on the Weistec M113K Supercharger Upgrade. The system is what we consider the missing link for the AMG 55 platforms. The design foundation starts with our 3.0L Twin Screw Compressor, free flowing intake system, billet fuel rails, and our large, high efficiency intercooler that has been proven with our M156 AMG 63 systems.
The Stage 1 system will be CARB approved and 50 State Legal, just like our M156 AMG 63 System.
We hope to have power and cost figures out around the new year to follow shortly with a full release of the system. Power will be out of this world, and we are working hard to make this an affordable upgrade for all."
The responses should be interesting when all the info is finally made available. Cant wait!

The snowball effect will be great if you want to use this thing much past what we can do on a stock blower in my opinion.
How much power do you guys think the drivetrain will hold and what will that cost to upgrade? Are parts even available to build some of this stuff up? Axles are already snapping with the stock blower.
This will be fun to watch and I wish everyone jumping on this boat well, just seems like your gonna be scooping water out of a boat with a big hole in the bottom of it if you intend to push this thing much past the stock blowers limits.

So this things gonna be over $10 grand plus you still need an exhaust (with the way some of these guy do math that's an extra $4000) and you have built a ticking time bomb with a lot of power. What will blow first, the motor? The trans? The torque converter? The driveshaft? The axles? The center section of the axle?

I'm just gonna sit back and watch the show. I feel this will cost way more money then a bolt on setup, to reach the same power potential, and pushing past this level expensive parts will start to blow and the snowball will begin its descent and growth.
Who knows maybe those wacky AMG guys really did put a drivetrain that will reliably hold 750+ horsepower in these cars for a 469-500hp motor and I've just lost my mind. I guess we'll find out in a few months.

I think the Weistec piece will be a much more efficient (air pump) power producer. I wonder what problems if any Weistec has run into while trying to produce "Power will be out of this world"?

Just pushing these things to "out of this world power" levels will open up new cans of worms that will need to be dealt with. We're breaking cars with stock blowers, it would be foolish not to expect to run into more problems that will cost more to upgrade.
Everyone wants the big blower to make more power then possible with the stock blower, so these are things that should really be considered. I strongly doubt this new setup will cost less to make the same power as a bolt on cars so we're stepping into new territory and in the car world that means more broken parts from my years of experience modding all kinds of stuff.

The idea I think is that for those who want to go further than the stock blower. Anyone that thinks that they are going to lay down a 1.3-- 60' on stock half axles or differential more than once or twice or at all is in for a rude awakening. Look at the lx cars. They are all running ford 8.8 and 9" conversions with 1000+ hp axles and driveshafts and now carbon driveshafts on built transmissions. There is 7-10k right there. If you want to be a highway queen then you would probably be ok with the stock driveline. Visit the lxforums and see what is what. Transmission is 4k, axles a few more thousand. axles with 8.8 is 4-5k. driveshaft another 1-2k depending.

I do not know much about all this stuff, but from an investment standpoint paying 10k for a supercharger is nutty!!! From a mechanical standpoint I would still say its nutty because why push these cars to "out of this world" if the original parts cannot handle it....
Lets not forget we are talking about AMG's which are luxury cars with power on demand, and not some clunker junker muscle car that looks like shiat driving down the road!
