I do normal driving and have the Continental Extreme Contact DWS all season ultra high-performance tires. Noise comfort is one of the attributes that is important to me. They handle very well and I am more impressed with them than the I was with the Goodyear Eagle F1s and Michelins I used in the past.
It really comes down to how you drive and your order of importance of a tire's attributes. Tire Rack is a good place to do reseach. Good luck!!

jay55, you should put your location/country in your location:South Africa.
All season, go with Cont DWS
Summer, Michelin Pilot SS or hankooks V12 for better pricing

thanks for the heads up
i will definatly check out the conti's.
i enjoyed the road holding and noise fromt the potenzas but im finding like the michelins i had on before they have a very soft compund and seem to wear out too quiclky.....![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
i drive the car often in sports 2 suspension mode i wonder if this acutally doesnt damage the tyres more than driving the car in comfort mode
.
might also be that dam traction control light that keeps flashing
.
that might also cause a problem

i shall have good look @ the Michelin's and the Hankook's
the pricing is gonna be much of the much here in South Africa, so pricing isnt really to much of an issue its the road holding and road noise that im a little more worried about.
but i seriously appreciate all the advice

Best value going on great tires is Hankooks V12, I just had a set of 20" installed, with warranty, tax, and out the door for $800 at Duscount tire.
On top of that I got the $80 rebate Hankook was doing !

I'm about to have to do the same. I hear great things about the BFG g-force T/A KDW's traction and wear but noticed they aren't XL rated tires. Does anyone know if they really need to be XL rated? I REALLY like the look of the KDWs.

I have the same tires and the difference I have noticed between the DWS's and the Michelin's is that the Michelin's tend to get LOUDER as they wear out.

Jay55- I have the Bridgestone Potenza's as well on my E63. Tons of tread.
Last week leaving a restaurant, the right back tire goes flat,. MB roadside asst. comes and after pulling off the tire to inspect it, the tech looks at the inside of the tire and half of it is off the rim !! He thinks somehow the seam just burst !!
I'm switching brands on the back to probably Hankook's.
Would love to know how I could send the tire to Bridgestone so they could check out the tire and give me their thoughts.
There are many great choices.

OP - run the DWS's for my winter set up - love em - can't be beat for an all season tire (on my third winter with the same set and I don't drive easy - have about 20,000 miles and about 20 burn outs on them - still see the DWS in the tread to indicate tread life).
Had the DW's on my 19's- also loved them but wore the inside of my fronts down to the cords in about 12-15,000 miles - car was in sport two - didn't get the alignment redone)
Run the Hankooks right now on my 20's.....they're good tires but I feel that they are sensitive to temperature (they went on in September when things start to cool off around here)....the colder it gets, the less they grip
Given that youre just starting summer - they may be a good bet for you-once winter hits for you- you will notice a loss in grip (this is where the DWS shine)
To those who are asking about traction from a stop - THE ONLY THING that will provide that are drag radials or a deft right foot......

I had NT05's and think they are great. The are very sticky on a dry road, and very good in wet. But it also depends on how you drive. They DO NOT come full tred. They come at 6/32. So if you drive hard they will not last very long. This is just my experience.
